As for alerts, the admins do not feel that the number of alerts sent on this website is even remotely excessive. If any member makes an effort to be civil, they will not have any problem with either alerts or hidden posts.

When people are acting in concert, that penalty is next to nothing.

On the flip side, some of the reasons given by jurors for not hiding are laughable.

3. On the alerts I've juried...

...I've voted to Leave It 90+% of the time. Most of the alerts were frivolous or an attempt to silence a winning argument. Or it appeared to be alert stalking or a tit-for-tat. Occasionally there was a post that was borderline, but after reading the thread or sub-thread it was apparent the poster was being baited into an argument, so I voted to Leave. IMO, the system is pretty dysfunctional, and is abused by a handful of posters. I have a strong hunch that most of the alerts come from relatively few DUers...but Skinner doesn't seem to want to publish that data.

6. I've had 4 juries come back with 7-0 leave results in the past few days.

And several more that were leaves but with one or two votes to hide.

That I know of.

It sucks that we have to watch our backs but it is what it is.

People who do that on internet forums are generally called 'trolls' and 'disrupters'.
