Vermont Progs and Dems Sing Sanders' Praises

-snip-
The Vermont Progressive Party and a group of Democratic state legislators are backing Bernie Sanders.

The Progs, at their quarterly state committee meeting Saturday, voted nearly unanimously for a resolution singing Sanders’ praises, said Kelly Mangan, party executive director. The resolution notes that the party's positions on many issues align with Sanders' campaign platform, and urges Progressives to support Sanders.

Howard Dean (former VT governor) and current VT Governor Shumlin are campaigning for her, along with the Gov of Conn. For all of this insider support, she doesn't seem to have traction in NH despite support from NH Senator Shaheen and also Gov. Hassan. As an aside -Shumlin although popular for shutting down VT Yankee is not popular enough with progressives to seek another term as governor...People have felt betrayed by his failure to push through single payer health care.

There is also looming a potential gas pipeline which is extremely unpopular in NH and which may connect to the Vermont Yankee facility in southern VT - still waiting on how this unfolds. But this is the context.

I've already written that Sanders leads in VT by such a wide margin that people there feel more like campaigning in NH than VT....Sanders not only leads the Democratic primary candidates but also the Republican primary candidates....The margin favoring Sanders is something like 75%-25%.

Therefore, campaigning by Vermonters is being done in NH....Sanders just this week received his first state Rep endorsement - f/b response was extremely positive...Still waiting to see if others will follow.
