Bernie Sanders Focuses on Young People as ‘Agents for Change’

On a recent road trip to Chicago, Bernie Sanders, who just came back from Iowa where he addressed 80-invited high school and college students at a Youth Summit in Des Moines, focused on young people as “agents of change.”

Sanders challenged the packed young audience inside the Rockefeller Chapel at the University of Chicago “to stand up and be leaders today.”

Jobs, childhood poverty, drug addiction, education and college costs were all part of Sanders’ agenda at the hosted event in Chicago, according to Sanders campaign website, “Bernie 2016.” In his push to get young people involved in the 2016 elections, Sanders said young people can be at the vanguard of the fight for economic justice.

“When we stand together we can accomplish extraordinary things,” he said.

It’s the “energy, intelligence and idealism” of young people that Sanders is focusing on.“I ask you as young people to stand up and be leaders in this country,” he said. “Help us create a nation where every person realized the full promise of equality that is our birthright as Americans.”

Before heading to Chicago, Sanders was on the campaign trail in Iowa where he addressed America’s national priorities as they pertain to young people at a Youth Summit in Des Moines: One in five children are poverty stricken; college costs are unaffordable; and unemployment among young people has increased.

Sanders told the young people in the audience that the issues in discussion are “enormously important” to their lives encouraging them to get involved and create a better nation.

which would be cool too. Might try googling SBS patriotic merchandise or smthg. to see if one comes up.
