Some 164 College Students for Bernie groups have sprung up in recent months on college campuses nationwide, according a chapter roster maintained by The Action Network. Students say he offers a more authentic, honest choice compared to frontrunner Clinton.
No one I know really likes Hillary Clinton at this point, Brendan Eprile, president of the Oberlin chapter, told The College Fix in an email. Hillary Clinton is a chameleon: she will side with the issues that she thinks will give her the best press. I think honestly, most people I know dont trust Hillary Clinton. It doesnt seem like she actually cares about the American people as a whole.
Jordan Incorvaia, president of the Penn State chapter, told The College Fix Sanders says what he believes, and what hes fighting for will help the nation.
Sanders is a self-described democrat socialist, and some of his most popular stances with college students include advocating for a free college education at public universities, demonizing the corporate world, and decrying income inequality and racial injustice.

(14,255 posts)Interesting and good read. Thanks for bringing this here. This is pretty much the attitude of my grandson's friends and acquaintances - but, actually, they don't criticize Hillary - because they don't care about her. Not interested.
In some ways, given the current state of the country, this election is sort of a zero sum thing, for them. They have the crushing student loans, or cannot find jobs that pay enough to live on. They are the ones who will be wearing those boots on the ground.
Appearances do not count. Content does. What a concept, eh?

They are correct this election is a zero sum game and the only way for the 99% to win is Bernie goes all the way.
Otherwise the Republicans win and they know it already.

His exciting campaign has already created more hype than Obama in 2007 in my opinion, said Alex Austin, president of the University of Pittsburgh chapter, told The College Fix via email.
Hillary represents status quo, establishment politics, Super PACs, catering to the wealthy, and tiptoeing around the issues that matter, Austin said. I think his [Sanders] integrity shines through and thats what people love the most. He is not willing to trash talk other candidates or work with any Super PAC, and thats truly the change wed all like to see in todays politics.
As part of the College Students for Bernie Sanders movement, students are engaging in canvassing events, registering voters, maximizing on Sanders social media presence, coordinating with other chapters, and making phone calls on his behalf.
On Nov. 12, chapters across the country are scheduled to take part in a Million Student March, a rally against student debt and for a $15 minimum wage. The idea is to get one million students across the country to get political and have our voices heard, bringing attention to the Bernie Sanders campaign, Austin said.

Meanwhile, I wonder how college students are reacting to terms like "bashing" and "haters." This cannot be good for the Party.

(15,480 posts)As Hillary Clinton stumps at Dartmouth, College Democrats no-shows, College Republicans turned away (Headline)
HANOVER, N.H. A recent Hillary Clinton campaign stop at Dartmouth College saw College Republicans turned away from standing near the Democratic presidential candidate and College Democrats apparent no-shows at the event.
The Ivy League college, located in New Hampshire, offers a well-attended summer school session, which is required for sophomores yet Dartmouth College Democrats student leaders currently attending class there were nowhere in sight at Clintons campaign stop Friday.
I did not see any College Democrats there, student Charles Springer, a member of the Dartmouth College Republicans, told The College Fix on Saturday. I had spoken with a couple College Democrats on the day before the event and they all said that they were not going to the Hillary event as she was not progressive enough for them and they did not like her as a candidate or as a person.
The Dartmouth College Democrats in late May hosted a Clinton competitor presidential candidate Martin OMalley praising him on Facebook for being a progressive candidate.

As for Friday afternoons event, oddly enough, the rally for Hillary Clinton had a better showing from the Dartmouth College Republicans. However, a staffer for the Clinton camp refused to allow College Republicans to stand near her, the groups members told The Fix.
Shortly before Mrs. Clinton spoke, Clinton campaign staffers began to draw students and families from a corner of the crowd and place them on the stage, flanking the podium. As Springer and Michelle Knesbach, both Dartmouth College Republicans, were about to pass through the hole in the rope and proceed toward the stage, a staffer stopped them. Springer recalled that the staffer said: You guys are College Republicans, yeah? When Knesbach replied in the affirmative, the staffer said, Yeah, you guys cant come on stage.
Springer said the staffer later apologized to the two students, saying that his remarks had been rude and misleading, that those allowed on stage had been pre-selected. Springer said he does not buy it. I saw them very clearly picking people at the last minute to put up onstage, as several friends of mine who decided to come to the event at the last minute were on that stage, Springer told The College Fix. Several international students who are not U.S. citizens were also on the stage.
As for Mrs. Clintons appearance, it attracted a crowd of students and townspeople, enough to fill a small field at the rural Hanover campus. The event, paid for by the Clinton campaign, included gourmet barbecue and desserts for at least 700 people.

(14,691 posts)That they referred to Sanders as a "democrat Socialist" (not democratic) got me suspicious so I looked closer - look at the right side at the popular stories - FWIW this looks like a right wing site to me.
