(85,373 posts)Congress' problems are not going to be solved by "throwing money at it" unless that money is in the form of tax revenues, or spent to support the eviction of the GOP and Tea Party from its halls by electing lots of FDR Democrats, assuming there are more than just our candidate Bernie Sanders (and his supporters, of course!).

(4,879 posts)Totally ignoring the problems that Bernie Sanders has been pointing out forever.
It seems the only problems he sees are those having to do with the 1%s collapsing under the weight of their own greed.
Trump doesn't care about or even see the rest of us.

(4,452 posts)After all, haven't we all been born inheriting millions and a ton of real estate? When I see the Donald doing an exhaust repair on a 20 y/o car in the driveway I might cut him some slack. Till then go suck a lemon!

(4,879 posts)My 1989 Toyota needs a new muffler tailpipe assembly.
I don't think "The Donald" gives a damn about it.
I'm waiting for my mechanic to get out of prison (marijuana possession) to fix it.
So yes, T rump can go suck a lemon.

(4,452 posts)but I can't rely on a mechanic. I'll be on my back in the dirt but first I have to get the money to buy the parts.

(4,879 posts)I can't afford a mechanic either. I just provided a home for this particular one. He is by far the best mechanic (next to my late aunt Goodie) I have ever known. He even got an old steam tractor up and running.
I learned a lot about auto mechanics from my dad and his sister, but I am no longer able to put my back in the dirt.
Where are you and what do the parts cost? I don't know your situation, but I understand being dirt poor (I am).
PM me.

(4,452 posts)He was just tired of fixing the car every weekend so he could get to work on Monday. I don't think I learned half of what he tried to teach me but I do pretty well taking care of things.
As far as expenses, I got some retirement funds into the bank and will get my first SS payment next month.
I'm located in Western Pa in an old coal mining town. It's beautiful and green but there's a lot more poor than comfortable.

(4,879 posts)He was a concrete and brick mason (a true craftsman).
I have owned new cars in the past, but as they became increasingly more difficult and expensive to maintain (due to all the digital computerized crap) I gave up and bought the '89 Toyota in 2003. She's still chugging' along.
Congratulations on the SS. I get my first payment next month also.
I live just outside downtown Dallas, TX. It's definitely not beautiful or green (I do have my nice garden) and nobody is close to comfortable in my neighborhood. We are the working and/or retired poor.
I salute you.
