doing what they do.

What Began as a Get-Together for Bernie Fans Has Become a Three-Week Dance Party Called Bernie Man

The dance begins tomorrow, the 28th, spread between Kremwerk and Re-bar and featuring Natural Magic, Riz Rollins, Kadeejah Streets and many more. Then it's all live music (at the same venues) on November 4th: Tangerine, MASZER, Branden Daniel and The Chics, Marmalade, Fauna Shade, and so on. Then the following Wednesday it's hip-hop, R&B, house, and techno (Bernie's favorite style, let's assume) featuring The Physics, Gifted Lab, Sassyblack, WD4D, Pezzner, and more.

But how do you get tickets? Ah, that's where Bernie Man organizers have gotten clever. Part of Bernie's schtick is publicly resisting large donations (unless you're a labor PAC, in which case he'll gladly take your $100,000) so party-promoters won't be collecting checks and handing over a big lump sum. Instead, you'll need to donate $20 to Bernie's campaign yourself, and then bring your receipt for entry into one of the parties. Voila, instant grassroots!

but I am happy to be on the side of these folks. Creative, young, becoming politically active in new ways, those to pass the flame on to.

Will be doing the Camino in Spain next year with a friend and we’ve decided to each bring a small tent and camp instead of trying to beat the swarm of pilgrims to the next hostel. I can tell you my 50 year old chronically sore back isn’t looking forward to that part of the journey, but it sure beats bed bugs!

Enjoy that. I think that is a good idea, my kids have had mixed experience in hostels, mostly good but sometimes nothing that I would care to deal with. Cushions, blow up beds and good luck. Start exercises now! What a great time you will have. That has to be some hike!

We’re going to start in Pamplona as we’ve heard that a great percentage of people who start in the Pyrenees end up giving up after 3 days because of injuries. The amount of injuries sustained from Pamplona to Santiago decreases significantly. We thought that was a good bet!

The reason I’m doing this in the first place is because I was diagnosed this summer with MS so I thought it wise to move this up on my bucket list while I still can. My friend had a massive heart attack when he was in his 30’s and has bad diabetes (though you’d never guess to look at him - he’s young and runs everyday) so when i said I was going he said “I’m coming with you!!!” I think my husband is going to join us for the last week or 2 and a friend from England is contemplating doing the whole walk with us as well. The more the merrier! You’re welcome to join too LOL - I’ve got some great jazz on my iPod!

I’ve been walking 5 miles everyday through some very varied terrain that mimics the landscape we’ll be walking over next September. We’ve calculated to do the whole Camino in a month we’d need to do 27 miles a day to allow for a day or two “off”...so I’ve got less than a year to get myself in shape!

Good luck to you and well wishes for an incredible time in your life. I am thankful you can do this after a diagnosis like MS.

LOL, if I could ever get away from my farm for a trip I would be scuba diving but hiking is wonderful too, especially a trip like this.

27 miles a day seems a lot to me but since I have never hiked like that and do not know exactly what the terrain is like it might not be. I don't know, it sure sounds like a lot to me! Exciting and you have a nice little group it sounds like. I will be anxious to hear about it.

It will be wonderful to get away right before the election!

Been reading all evening about how those disaffected, nonvoting, self-centered grandchildren of hippies, vegan-eating, xbox-playing (adding: children of the ME generation) humans are organizing all over the country to educate themselves about voting, getting themselves to the ballot box and firing up their friends.

Do you know about the Student Town Hall tomorrow night?
