The website comes up fine from the link. The advertisement scroll must be in error.

I have some serious questions about it. Why would the advert-scroll have his name on it if the source wasn't found? Wouldn't it instead just say "error 404 page not found"?

5. web server software has had the ability to customize your 404 (and other common error) pages

for basically forever. The plain 'error 404 page not found' is just the default that shows up if your webmaster didn't bother to customize the page for the site.
