Letter: Bernie Sanders represents us best
I am usually quiet on politics and have never openly endorsed any candidate, but what Bernie Sanders has been doing has motivated me. Bernie is an independent, who is above party politics and fights against the establishment. He has the highest senator approval rating at 83 percent and has even gathered positive attention from Pope Francis who states, “I see in Senator Bernard Sanders a man of great integrity and moral conviction, who understands these principles and genuinely wants what’s best for all people.”
With an economy similar to Northwest Ohio in Sander’s home state of Vermont, he wins much of the rural farming vote. For example, Randy Meade, a dairy farmer, is a gun owner, thinks gay marriage is immoral and says the government should spend a lot less. But he has always voted for Sanders because he says Sanders protects small farmers like him against the larger dairy farms.
I believe voting for Bernie Sanders is politically and more important morally our best option for us in Northwest Ohio and the entire U.S. I believe Bernie could start a political revolution, where common ground that exists between the Republicans and Democrats can efficiently be enacted in government. I encourage all of you to look into his policies. Bernie has my vote and I hope yours in the primaries, no matter what party you identify as.
