(24,411 posts)Bernie is a very measured, no-nonsense guy. He's not going to call a press conference to announce an endorsement, unless it is a very important endorsement.
It's obviously someone who realizes that Bernie is tied in Iowa and needs a shot in the arm to ensure that he does take Iowa. If he takes Iowa and NH, this race completely changes and his momentum could explode.
Someone important is seeing that it's now or never.
Interesting that both Axelrod and Biden have come out of the woodwork to practically side with Bernie. Axelrod criticized Hillary's campaign and Biden practically endorsed Bernie, while pointing out that Hillary's "new to these issues."
This is all very interesting. It could be anyone.

(14,691 posts)that great a choice IMO because of the age factor. Bernie is 74 and Biden is 73.
P.S. I'm 65.

Not speaking for myself here. I'd vote for Sanders/Biden. Sanders/Warren, Sanders/WHOEVER.

(5,141 posts)It would be kind of premature for him to pick a VP, right? Dont they usually wait till after theyve won the nomination?
I could be wrong.

(1,192 posts)among all the candidates running, Hillary is the only one floating the idea of who might be her VP. That's a bit premature IMO.

(16,327 posts)He was floated by her campaign just when Bernie was really starting to gain traction, especially among people of color. I found it odd at the time that she would do that, since candidates never really discuss VPs before a primary.

(32,723 posts)Reagan did it in 76 during the convention before the nomination and many considered it to be a political stunt when he named Senator Richard Schweiker who was a moderate.
Ford narrowly won the nomination but lost the election to Carter.
BTW: Ford named Bob Dole as his running mate in '76.
I believe that's why they ran him against Clinton 20 years later.
It was "his turn".

(28,627 posts)i noticed that Axelrod has been changing his tune. Something's up.
CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)I think Axelrod coming out publicly in ways that are negative toward Clinton, signals that, as you said, something is up.
I've got my opinions about what some major players in DC really think about the Clintons. I have no proof, but I get the sense that the Clintons (especially Hillary) are the bullies that people just tolerate and go along with--as we slide deeper into corruption and the subversion of our democracy.
Then along comes Bernie. Axelrod (and people connected to Axelrod) see that Bernie is the real deal; and they also experienced the wrath of the Clinton campaign machine firsthand. Don't think they've forgotten that. I think those scars run deep.
Like all bullies, all it takes is for everyone around them to decide, "No more."
Who this endorser (or possibly it's more than one person) is/are remains to be seen.
However, I agree with you that something is up. First Biden, then Axelrod. So telling that Biden came out and said those things and then had to walk them back. The walk back was half-assed and you could tell it was under duress. Of course, the "inevitable one" made a phone call, probably said a few choice words and demanded that he walk it back.
We'll have to see, but I think more than a few people are done with her nonsense.

(5,066 posts)reportly Obama encourged biden to run.Biden considered it.this isn't act of people who love Hillary CLinton.take out tpp and Obama
was sounding like Bernie In state of the union.
Biden did knock clinton with his postive talk on bernie and his Clinton was late on income equiltry.yeah he walked it back but he
probally meant it.
some of her endorsements are result of them being afaird what will happen to them if they endorse bernie and Clinton wins.
The Clintons have long memorys.99 percent of the time they only campaigned for dems who supported her over Obama.
Axelrod who has kind of been dismissive of bernie basilly called chelsea Clinton a liar.
Obama may feel betreyed by clinton on TPP.while he takes heat from dems oppossed she tries to act like she had nothing to do
with it.Clinton is trying to have it both ways on Iran.and Obama may feel like she hasn't supported his efforts In world enough as
she moves to right.
Biden basiclly defended Bernie on guns
CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)I don't think Obama had anything to do with that. Obama is even quoted as saying that Libya is her deal. And she surrounded herself with neocon advisors (which makes me want to hurt a lung).
I think there's some very interesting dynamics here at play. Someone with some cajones needs to write a book--after Sanders is President and this frickin nightmarish chapter in our history is done!

(13,877 posts)a frenetic HRC group. Also her comment about Chelsea's talk..at least the one I read...seemed almost to distance herself from it, rather than admitting she cooked it up. Something about "she's my daughter and I stand behind her."
What likely happened is that she shoved this person of privilege out to shovel crap on unsuspecting non privileged listeners and she bombed. I don't know where she was speaking, but it was clearly intended to be nationally publicized. Another public flailing around by HRC.
CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)In effect, she handed Chelea a bag of poo, when Chelsea threw the bag of poo everyone called her out.
Hillary's response is to suggest that even though her daughter was caught flinging poo, that she stands behind her.
Behind her, indeed!
Nothing like putting your daughter on the front lines to lie for you, then keeping her at the forefront for your own personal gain and benefit.
I mean...when Axelrod is calling your daughter a liar, it's bad! Doubling down with your daughter still holding the bag of poo, is...
...Man, the Clintons never cease to amaze me.

(248 posts)They posted that it isn't likely to be Elizabeth Warren or the Nation. The Nation already endorsed and has made the news rounds. Elizabeth Warren, imo, will not endorse until after the first few primaries are over, if she even does endorse. I think the reddit poster was right that it will be an endorsement from a big health care group or physicians' group that supports single payer. In light of all of the attacks on single payer lately, it would make the most sense. Of course, it could also be an elected official from NH or something, but, who knows?? Exciting isn't it?

(24,411 posts)I know the AMA (American Medical Association) was behind single payer. A group of doctors tried to voice their support for a single-payer system when the ACA was making its way through Congress, but I remember that they were not given a chance to speak.
That would be powerful!!!!
Less than an hour and a half to go before the endorsement!

Hillary & him I think are not exactly great friends & who's better @ Sanders number one passion then Big Al?
And of course Gore & the Black Caucus @ the time basically saved Bill Clinton's ass during the impeachment hearings.

(5,066 posts)i don't remember bernie making big deal in past about endorsements in advance.
It may not be Warren although i hope it is.It could be someone who is changing from clinton to bernie.perhapes a union which
hasn't endorsed yet.
If it is warren this would be like ted kennedy endorsing Obama.I don't think Biden will endorse untill primarys are over like Obama
but there is nothing to say he couldn't.still i find that far less likely than Warren endorsing Bernie.

(5,066 posts)of Jesse Jackson.Bernie supported him during his runs for president.they are friends.he wasn't exactly wild on Bill Clinton in 1992.
He supported him more enthusticly In 1996.Bill kind of insulted him in 2008 when he dismissed obama's big SC win when he said
Jesse Jackson won Sc In 1984 and 1988.This would be huge deal to shatter the memo bernie can't get non-white support.
The only thing i question is would bernie announce this in NH with NH having mostly whites.you don't think it would be helpful In NH
or Iowa. For SC and beyond yes it would be big deal.
CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)meant that maybe it is someone on the east coast who, for logistical reasons didn't want to travel all the way to Iowa.
I'm thinking someone on the east coast or an organization. Like the AMA.
