The firm that Brockovich worked for took the case on contingency. 40% is a pretty standard fee once the lawsuit is filed. In any case, decisions like not paying the over 600 families immediately and tacking on the extra millions for expenses aren't decisions made by a law clerk. While eventually well compensated, that's still all Erin was.
