O'Malley Slams Ben Carson As 'Sad' And 'Bigoted' Over Muslim Remarks.

Democratic presidential candidate and former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley on Tuesday called Republican candidate Dr. Ben Carson "sad" and "bigoted" for his recent comments about Muslims.

Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, said Sunday that he "would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation."

O'Malley responded Tuesday during an appearance on MSNBC.

"I believe the vast majority of Americans don't disqualify a candidate for President based upon his or her religious affiliation," O'Malley said. "I think that's sad, bigoted language that's a vestige of our past."

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump also did not correct a town hall audience member Thursday when he said that President Obama was a Muslim.

"Yeah, there's a lot of very strange kind of bigoted and oftentimes racist rhetoric coming off of the presidential candidate podiums of the Republican Party," O'Malley said.

"That's not where our country is headed. We are a much more inclusive and compassionate people than that," O'Malley added, later in the interview.

but I am saying that IF he doesn't win the Democratic nomination he would make one hell of a mean bulldog of a Veep.
