24 more Iowa Democrats endorse O'Malley for president.

Democratic presidential candidate Martin O'Malley is making headway in Polk County, nabbing endorsements from some leading activists here, his campaign aides say.

The former Maryland governor got the endorsements Monday from Karl Schilling, the leader of the South Side Des Moines Democrats; Heather Ryan, the leader of the East Side Des Moines Democrats; and Gary Schmidt, the leader of the Ankeny Area Democrats.

There are about 10 Democratic organizations within the county. Kimberly Boggus, the leader of the Central Iowa Democrats, endorsed O'Malley last month.

"Polk is the largest county in Iowa and an important stronghold for Democratic candidates," campaign spokeswoman Kristin Sosanie said.

O'Malley is an underdog for the Democratic nomination, struggling to gain a foothold with Iowa caucusgoers. Polling shows former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders in the lead here.

The three endorsements were part of a pack of 24 the O'Malley campaign announced Monday; another 17 were publicized in September.

Two of the activists, Schmidt and Lu Ann Pedrick, were "heavily active for Clinton in 2008 and have decided to back O'Malley in 2016," Sosanie said.

Mitch Henry, a Democratic activist who belongs to the League of United Latin American Citizens, said he's backing O'Malley because "he answers questions directly and he's been very forward."

Henry said O'Malley was well-received at the Latino Heritage Festival in Des Moines last week. And as a former executive of a state with a sizable Latino population, O'Malley "has dealt with immigration issues directly and addresses them in a very concrete way."

I suspect there will be many more beginning the week following the October 13th Democratic debate.

And, here's my next prediction:

The polls following the debate will show, BOTH, Bernie and HRC taking a hit with M O'M showing a bump, as both front-runners will lose those supporters who like their candidate's message; but, have "candidate concerns".

Further, I predict that HRC will take the bigger hit, as Bernie supporters are (seem) more invested.

Your scenario presumes that Sanders supporters are mostly as ardent as those we experience here. I suspect not. Many (perhaps a plurality), I believe, are ABC voters.

I sense that more Sanders supporters will peel off, because they'll feel more comfortable with O'Malley's electability - ameliorating their biggest concern about Sanders - and would not be surprised to see Sanders and O'Malley in near polling parity within weeks after the debate.

I do suspect, like you indicate, a significant segment of Bernie's on-line supporters are, in fact, ABC talkers.

but an unscientific personal sampling leads me to doubt it. Visiting daughter in NJ, and among an otherwise un-political group of millenials my daughter told me that ALL of her and her husband's friends are pro-Bernie, not ONE is 'other,' except for repugs in the neighborhood.

Same pro-Bernie for my cousin and friends, in Asheville, NC! My NC cousin was just asked to speak for a very few minutes at an Asheville event before the Democratic debates, much to her and my surprise!

Who would want to make their own choices, right?

Am I right? .. Who's with me? ... er. .. Them?

and especially do NOT learn about Governor O'Malley's achievements:

Martin O'Malley:

1. Ended death penalty in Maryland
2. Prevented fracking in Maryland and put regulations in the way to prevent next GOP Gov Hogan fom easily allowing fracking.
3. Provided health insurance for 380,000
4. Reduced infant mortality to an all time low.
5. Provided meals to thousands of hungry children and moved toward a goal for eradicating childhood hunger.
6. Enacted a $10.10 living wage and a $11. minimum wage for State workers.
7. Supporter the Dream Act
8. Cut income taxes for 86% of Marylanders (raised taxes on the rich).
9. Reformed Maryland’s tax code to make it more progressive.
10. Enacted some of the nation’s most comprehensive reforms to protect homeowners from foreclosure.

It's the endorsement thingy I object to ...

There are other parties using the endorsement aspect as a cudgel against my favorite candidate ... I don't like it ...
