Puerto Rico Teachers' Unions Vow to Resist Education Reform

The Puerto Rico Teachers Federation (FMPR by its Spanish initials) and Educators for Democracy, Unity, Change, Militancy and Trade Union Organization (Educamos by its Spanish acronym) announced on Wednesday
that they will be “demonstrating resistance” against the Education Reform bill that was approved late Tuesday in the island House of Representatives.

Educamos spokesperson Eva Ayala added that “[t]hey should know that there is going to be resistance.”

Martínez said various teachers groups are preparing to hold a teachers’ assembly during school hours in which educators will determine if they will go on strike against the measures approved in the House.
