(2,399 posts)is probably not the best use of our time and resources in the presidential election. I'd rather get rid of Trump that try to put low info voters through grad school.

(2,208 posts)Really? Condescend much? lol
Isn't "low info voters" a pejorative? okie dokie, let's not fill their heads with issues then? lol
Call me an optimist but I do think voters do grasp the details of issues that are important to them, its our job to select a candidate that addresses their concerns.
Cheers

(2,399 posts)and make their decision in late Oct. is who I'm talking about.
And my biggest concern to be addressed is getting rid of Trump.
And his honeymoon in the Soviet Union isn't gonna help explaining his socialism to those people. Well actually it might, but not in a helpful way. That shit is gonna leave a mark.
And yes, I am very arrogant and condescending. Just as the gods made me.

(3,256 posts)I doubt they are suddenly going to have a lightbulb moment.
The association of socialism with communism is very powerful and Bernie's own praise of Cuba and defense of Venezuela will seal the deal for them.
I think that the people outside Trump's core supporters may be persuaded by a mainstream "known quantity" candidate like Joe Biden.

(67,782 posts)....this brings back when I was making calls for Dan Malloy for his first Governor election campaign. It was going to be close, so they had us working right up to 8:00 when the polls closed, reminding people to get out and vote. One woman I spoke to about 7:00 said "I don't feel like going out tonight, maybe I'll vote tomorrow or Thursday"!!! Unfortunately we have way too many people who are "low info" like that.

(22,236 posts)and you are right about low info voters. The country has more than its fair share of them, and trying to educate that particular segment of voters about the benefits of certain aspects of social programs would be in one ear and out the other. The priority is to beat Trump no matter what else.

(3,259 posts)It's his job to explain his platform and win. That doesn't mean we can't help without having to sell something we don't want to sell. There is more than one race coming up.
There is something people like myself will be doing all over the country that will hopefully carry him. If Sanders gets the nod I will be working strictly for down ticket democrats. Sanders won't have coattails and our efforts will be the only thing that will continue the blue wave. If we each work hard enough locally we will carry Sanders across the finish line. I will sure as hell tell each person I talk to about local candidates to make sure they vote for Sanders as well.

(3,256 posts)he will have negative coattails. We will lose the house and the senate once Trump and republicans are done framing him. For his ambitious plans he will have to raise taxes or cut defense spending -- both are radioactive outside extreme liberal circles.

(3,259 posts)But politically active people on the left won't just slither away. Our efforts will be more emphasized on down ticket races. That additional emphasis will have an impact on down ticket races. If people slink away from the whole process because Sanders wins the nomination that really says something about us. We don't have to fight for Sanders in order to help carry Sanders or prove down ticket gains. Yes, it will be harder.

(3,256 posts)I was going further with NEGATIVE coattails because a lot of centrist Democrats in middle America and South may stay home if Sanders is the nominee - which will be a net negative for whoever is running there for house or senate.
