There's a simple reason why a record number of Democrats have entered the 2020 Primary race

It's because Trump is going to be easier to beat than what the media would like people to believe, and that is why everyone under the sun has jumped into this race. With Idiot Trump being the 2020 incumbent, everyone is licking their chops to get in there because they know it will be the easiest chance ever to become President.

The only real fight is going to be in the Democratic Primary, IMHO. Unless our eventual nominee makes some catastrophic mistakes, I'm confident that the person we nominate is going to be the next president of the United States regardless of what the media says and regardless of any goofy polls that might say otherwise. Let's face it, if this was Ronald Reagan we were going up against in 2020, do you really think we'd have 21 people (or more by the time I'm done with this post) in the race right now? Hell no. I'm guessing it would be 5 or 6. OTOH, with the Deranged One in there, everyone knows they can beat him.

Since any qualified Democrat can beat Trump, I have to wonder if we're worrying just a little too much about who can beat up on Trump the most when maybe we should be worrying about who would be the best person to run this country starting in 2020.

So, if you agree that Trump is ripe for the picking, shouldn't our number one priority be choosing the best person for the job, period? Or would we be living too dangerously by making that our first priority?

i grew up in columbus, ohio, and the buckeyes always packed the stadium -- the second largest in the country -- to capacity and beyond, all the while routinely beating opponents like northwestern 70-3.

people love a solid trouncing.

what they don't like is a ho-hum, predictable win. that's just boring.

but a genuine landslide, something that people can say is epic or remarkable or that breaks records, that is something that people can get excited about.


having said that, i don't think a true "landslide" is in the offing for us. just too many states would stay solidly in the red column even if donald fraud were to run for re-election from a prison cell.

then again, it may be enough just to win a state like georgia or texas....

3. Let's not underestimate Trump

We did in 2016 to our own peril.

Trump will be a formidable opponent. We can beat him, but it will take unity, money and hard work.

9. I don't think you can ever worry too much. It's too little worrying that got us here. Trump, so far,

has kept his base. He's practicing looking "presidential" on camera, fighting like Roy Cohen in the courts. Twitter's still there for him. The voting machine hacking is still where it was in 2017. The Russians are, by all reports, even more ready to hack numbers into servers and totals than in the last election. And the ground dramas will range from "presidential" in the rallies to ugly.

Better to watch the primaries play out.

Better to watch the later polls after the new year.

It's better to be ready for the worst outcome, and work like hell for the best outcome.

Better to support all legal attempts in the courts, and roll out impeachment at Speaker Pelosi's pace.

Better to see which candidates worry Trump, and all the "tells" he gives, since he and his voters hate being predictable.

However media runs its horse race headlines, or GE voters, it's better to be a wrong pessimist than a wrong optimist.

12. I don't know about easy to beat and I'm not sure that's why so many are in the race. What I do

know is "the most qualified person to run for the job ever" does not reside in the White House. I'm not going to support who the "experts" think can win in the primary, I'm supporting who I think we need to win.

There was overconfidence in 2016, too.

Don't forget RUSSIA. Don't forget he has 30-35% solidly in his corner, and many of those voters are middle aged middle class voters, who typically are reliable voters.

It's not the popular vote that counts, as we know. It comes down to some key swing states. Trump will get quite a few states just because he's Republican. The Democratic candidate will get fewer states, but guaranteed states, because he/she is a Democrat.

Hillary should have won PA, MI, & WI. Particularly PA, when all but one poll showed her winning, although not by much.

I believe that if these states, or a few others, come in close, Russia can tilt some key districts in those states to give them to Trump. If the race is close, that could mean a win by Trump, like in 2016.

Then look at what the Republican governors and Secretaries of State in key states will do. Look at what happened to Stacey Abrams in GA. It's entirely possible that she eeked out a win there. But the state govt came together to commit what may be crimes, to ensure the Republican won. Abrams sued over it; I don't know if that lawsuit is still going on.

Take nothing for granted. I think having this field so crowded by people who know they don't stand a chance, is insane and harmful. The Democratic Party needs to limit the debate field, so that the rea contenders have enough time to debate. If a person doesn't even have 1% support, he/she has no business taking up air time in a debate from the contenders who have 30%, 20%, or even 5% support.

Sherrod Brown dropped out very early, when he saw he didn't have the support to be a real contender. That's the example to follow, IMO.
