(99,710 posts)It is the namesake of Lou Harris who was JFK's personal pollster and told him on the night of the election he would be our 35th president.
I suspect polling was easier back then.

(58,785 posts)are still doing better than the ten competing for "1."
But oh darn that Sen. Amy Klobuchar isn't. That's just plain wrong for one of our most effective Democratic senators. She's more moderate than other good people, yes, but an outstandingly competent, moderate, progressive, liberal just shouldn't be in the same group as opportunistic self-promoters like Gabbard, Moulton, and Gravel.
As for Sanders' drop, occurs to me that that the Mueller report didn't trigger action against Trump is personally bad news for him. He's been campaigning for votes from the dissident left and the populist, trumpster right and left, but Trump still has the right mostly locked up.

(6,546 posts)I too am unhappy that her talent is not being recognized for what it is. (That is obvious by my presidential preference.) She is my senator, and I could not be prouder of her service to our state. I will support her completely.

(8,144 posts)a lot of good will. In Bidens case, that good will has been well earned. He has shown the mettle of his character many times, in the worst of times.
I think hed be good for the country, especially now when divisiveness and incivility set the tone in domestic politics; most important, when we and our allies face such strong threats from Russia and North Korea.
Although Id like to see someone of Bidens stature and experience lead on the world stage, I feel there are other candidates with the intellect and will to restore sanity to our foreign policy and to guide us through the dangers ahead.
Given the Dem roster this election cycle, its possible to not only vanquish Trump, but to herald a better day for the world.
Go Dems.

The most reliable voters African American women have little affection for Sanders, nor have they automatically gravitated to African American candidates to the left of Biden. They know Biden, they like him and so far they are content to reward him with their support after his eight years of service in the Obama administration.
The lack of appeal among African American candidates is now a significant problem for Sanders and for other progressives such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg. (The latest Quinnipiac poll found, Biden had the support of 42 percent of nonwhite respondents, more than 30 points ahead of his nearest rival, Warren. Sanders, who struggled with nonwhite voters during his 2016 campaign, had only 7 percent support.)
In short, in going far to the left, Sanders and other candidates misfired not only with older, more moderate whites but also with the critical African American electorate. The media likewise has overestimated the influence of the far left and failed to appreciate the centrist bent of both white and African American voters.
