An autoworker friend of mine is upset with Bernie Sanders for misusing union movement

He said long standing union members are upset with the president of NUHW who created a publicity stunt to smear Biden and falsely accusing him of crossing a picket line when no such picket line existed.

Sal Roselli, who gave most of the statements on behalf of 10-12 protesters is a Bernie Sanders supporter.

way to a fundraiser at George Clooney's house, but I don't think they were union members, don't think that had anything to do with a union.

This mini-protest at the Biden fundraiser appears to have been set up by that Sanders-supporting union prez, who in 2016 wanted Sanders to continue his campaign after HRC clinched the nomination.

Not at all surprised to hear that this divisive stunt was coordinated by someone known for politically divisive (and dangerous) stunts.

unionizing. They work for a candidate who they support and the candidate should certainly reciprocate and make sure they are treated fairly. It's not like in the regular workplace where management and workers goals are adversarial and at odds with each other—one for good working conditions, good pay and leave allowances, etc., the other tasked to contain and tamp those things down as much as possible.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but why would anyone want to work where there is an adversarial relationship between the candidate and supporters on a campaign?

You'd THINK so, wouldn't you?

I don't know the answer to that. Indeed, why would anyone want that?

One thing that I do know however, is that broadly speaking, unions are designed to PROTECT workers from abusive behavior, or from harassment, or from other unfair and unethical practices. The fact that the workers felt the NEED for (and wanted to join) a union reveals much about the campain and/or the actual working conditions within the organization.

the enthusiasm and spirit volunteers have but never as a paid campaign worker. Your analysis of paid workers feeling the reality of abuse, harassment and unethical practices sheds light on how those things unfortunately filter into campaign too.

It's unfortunate and perhaps explains why one particular candidate has experienced a huge drop in poll numbers and support.

A health care union in California held a protest at a fundraiser for former Vice President and current Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden held at the home of a board member for Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

A small group of members from the National Union of Healthcare Workers -- which represents 3,500 mental health clinicians who work for Kaiser Permanente in California—stood outside the home of Cynthia Telles, a member of the Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Kaiser Foundation Health Plan boards of directors, to protest long wait times for patients to receive follow-up care and fight inequities between mental health care and medical health care with Kaiser Permanente.

This was not a picket in the real world http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/picketing.html

Industrial action by unionized workers (called pickets) who either are on, or are trying to gather support for, a strike by assembling near the entrance to the employer's premises. Pickets try to persuade (1) coworkers to join them, (2) workers of other firms (such as delivery men) to refuse to enter the premises, and (3) customers to refrain from doing business with their employer. To be lawful, picketing is usually required to be approved in a union ballot.
