Sanders was asked specific questions at the Women of Color forum and instead of answering direct questions he just launched into shippets from stump speeches he has given thousands of times. Maher's staff should be ashamed of the editing that made it look like he was address direct questions when he wasn't.

The editing was clearly designed to set her up and make her look bad. Google the WOC forum and you will find out why Sanders was booed when he evaded answering direct questions.

5, 10, 15?

On one question because they didn't want to hear Bernie's history aka; his inconvenient truth because they didn't want to hear his message of passionate universal egalitarianism, so in acting as gate keepers as if every American viewing the program already knew this or had no right to hear it, they cut him off.

How about the editing from MSNBC, (not to mention the one sided slant or narrative) on Joy's program not showing the applause after said heckling just a continuous loop of that one question and said hecklers "moment of glory."

"The Bernie does not connect with women of color" meme is totally at odds with with the reception, beginning, middle and ending of the town hall with the exception of that one incident by a few hecklers, and nobody knows what their real motivation was because they didn't let Bernie finish, it's also at odds with the polling but Joy; didn't want to hear that from Nina Turner, her mind was already made up.

Why are you downplaying it. Sanders keeps making these boo-boos with POCs. You'd thinking he'd have learned by now instead of always resorting to economic excerpts from his stump speeches when asked about questions on racism.

during the forum? I mean who doesn't agree with his economic messages? That doesn't excuse his seemingly long-standing tone deafness on the racism in America v economics raises all boats issue going back to the 2016 campaign.

He should have long figured out how to answer those questions.
AAs know from centuries long experience that racism often trumps economic solutions because of...well, racists in America and how they quite often try to sabotage POCs from getting the economic benefits he espouses. We want to know what his solutions are, not just repeated recitations of his economic proposals.

Bernie Sanders was asked by a woman of color in the audience what he would do about the rise of white supremacist violence as President.

Instead he started talking about minimum wage and Medicare For All.

The audience claps when the moderator clocks him.

After getting called out for dodging specific questions about minorities, Bernie reminds the audience he "marched with MLK".

Audible groans/boos.

He wags his finger at them.

Shameful, I always have liked her on MSNBC. Hopefully she apologises if she is ever back on that show.

In all fairness however, many of the non DU Sanders supporters do the same thing to Buttigieg. It is insane to call him some RW stealth neoliberal war monger. Fucking nuts. They also attack Warren, WARREN, as a fraud!

That is NOBBDS.

33. It's really disingenuous and unfair editing of that video
Sun May 12, 2019, 07:58 PM
May 2019

At that forum of women of color Sanders was asked specific questions by audience members but instead of answering the questions he launched into snippets of his stump speeches, which is why he was booed.

Unfair editing and Maher and his staff should be ashamed of themselves for setting Maxwell up to look bad.

Research his appearance at that forum and find out the real deal why he was booed. It made the cable news shows, Joy Reid's show, who was the moderator, and it was even discussed here.

10. Do Sanders people REALLY think disagreeing and quarreling with PoC
Sun May 12, 2019, 05:15 AM
May 2019

about what they should require of candidates is a winning strategy? Just what did all the white-splaining and antagonism and sniping that filled 2015 and 2016 gain?

Always that dissonance between avowed goals and actual behaviors in that camp.

Btw, my theory is that if Sanders did what PoC require for their backing he'd lose much of his populist support and that that is why he blows of their requests for specifics. He is leading both a sorta-socialist movement which wants to be a universal movement and a populist movement for which that could be very problematic. Thus, he doesn't want to show he knows exactly what PoC want and then be seen refusing to promise it. Better to be seen as (still!) earnestly bewildered over why they (still!) don't understand the value of his revolution to them.

Do they even have a clue why he was booed? And days later he slighted the AA community again. He is sure he will have a woman as VP but it’s too early to discuss minorities.

That is one of the most deceptive video edits I’ve seen.

Might be helpful if people promoting his campaign would stop referring to people as deranged as the deceptively edit their interviews. This is really sick behavior. Has the stench of David Sirota all over it.

54. A little context to show who the op is promoting as being deranged.
Sun May 12, 2019, 09:03 PM
May 2019
Zerlina Maxwell is an American political analyst, commentator, speaker, and writer. She writes and speaks about rape culture, sexual assault, gender inequity, sexual consent, racism, and similar topics.[1][2] She is herself a survivor of sexual assault and describes herself as a survivor activist.[1][3]

Maxwell has appeared frequently on CNN, FOX News, and MSNBC as a commentator and has written for the Washington Post, JET Magazine, The American Prospect, Black Enterprise, CNN.com, the Huffington Post, Salon.com, and Ebony.com.[4][5][6] Her Twitter account was named by The New York Times as "A Twitter Voice to Follow" in 2012,[7] as one of "Salon’s Twitter 50" in 2012,[8] and one of TIME's 140 Best Twitter Feeds of 2014.[9] The Cut magazine's Kaitlin Menza said that Maxwell as "has built a career around expressing her political opinions with wit and intelligence."[6]

Maxwell worked as a field organizer for the 2008 Obama presidential campaign,[10] and was Director of Progressive Media for the 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign.[6] She is now Director of Progressive Programming for SiriusXM, and hosts a weekly radio show on SiriusXM, "Signal Boost."[6] In September 2017, Maxwell interviewed Hillary Clinton for a SiriusXM Progress Town Hall.[11]
