Biden - Harris Dream Ticket?

A dream ticket’: Black lawmakers pitch Biden-Harris to beat Trump
Senior members of the Congressional Black Caucus say it’s an ideal ticket if the former vice president stays atop the polls.

By HEATHER CAYGLE and JOHN BRESNAHAN 05/12/2019 06:56 AM EDT
The Congressional Black Caucus may have found an answer to its Joe Biden dilemma: Vice President Kamala Harris.

Some black lawmakers are agonizing over whether to back Biden or two members of the close-knit caucus — Sens. Harris and Cory Booker — who are also vying for the White House, according to interviews with a dozen CBC members.

But with the former vice president jumping out to a huge, if early, lead in the polls, several CBC members are warming to the idea of a Biden-Harris ticket to take on President Donald Trump.

“That would be a dream ticket for me, a dream ticket!” said Rep. Lacy Clay (D-Mo.). “If she is not the nominee, that would be a dream ticket for this country.”

7. IF it's gonna be Joe, I'd want either Bernie or Warren to idealogically balance out the ticket...

But, since those two are not THAT far apart in terms of their progressivism, I'd probably lean towards giving Elizabeth the nod over Bernie for VP, so as to also give gender balance to the ticket.

My preference, though, is obviously still Bernie and Elizabeth sharing the same ticket (sorry Joe!)...

Let's see how they all fare throughout the debates, and a few of the ups and downs to come. Someone may rise and challenge Biden's current inevitability status.

Just think of where Jeb Bush was about this time during the last primary season - and where he ended up.

3. My prediction - IF - the ticket is Biden/Harris, trump will dump Pence for Haley

He will throw Pence under the bus in a nanosecond.

Then he will send out HUNDREDS of tweets touting the GOP as the party of Women. Nikki Haley is supposed to make all the American Taliban anti-woman legislation disappear from the news.

The plan is to re-elect Trump (illegally with Russian direct influence) ...then the Christian Dominionists will be paid off when Trump is impeached in 2021 and their Minustet Pence is installed.

4. I like Beto/Abrams

To me, Beto is a perfect balance of electability without sacrificing progressive policies. He also has endless energy, works so incredibly hard, great small donor fundraising ability, wide appeal and Abrams as VP leaves all of our important Senators in their seats, which we really need if we want any hope of taking control of the Senate so we can actually get things done to fix the mess Trump has made.

13. They'll poll potential running mates in all the swing states

I don't see what benefit Harris brings to a Biden ticket in many of the swing states. For instance, she is very anti-gun which will turn off independent voters in places like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan and Florida where gun rights are popular with large segments of the middle.

Besides that, I think it will depend on how hard she comes after Biden in the debates and closer to the contests. Gotta be careful not to burn bridges trying to climb out of a large primary field and damage him.

If Joe wins she's out of action for 4 or 8 years, and she'd still have to run again, just like Joe is. So why not stay in the senate and just run when the next opportunity arises? Then again, veep duties are fungible, so it's possible he could offer her a deal that's attractive.
