For Harris and O'Rourke, Can Two "Dream" Candidates Reawaken Voters?

Three months ago, if you’d have asked me to gin up a presidential ticket that made progressive hearts go pit-a-pat, I’d have suggested a two-person luge of former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke and California Sen. Kamala Harris.

Why these two, out of nearly two dozen Democrats currently seeking their party’s nomination?

Because, in the case of O’Rourke, the parking-lot skateboarding hipster who nearly did in Ted Cruz in last year’s Senate race, Democrats had the coolest Texas offering this side of Austin’s East Sixth Street bar scene.

You want to turn Texas blue courtesy of a chill RFK vibe? Bet on Beto.

1. It is a long way to go yet before the primaries. The best often don't make a lot of noise

early on.

The ones that are making the most noise will be gone by Super Tuesday, BS and EW

It is called keeping your powder dry. Bernie is racking up enemies early and Warren is burning her candle down early.

3. I think O'Rourke is aware that the early primary results may not be favorable in the early states,

but that he can also afford to hold out for Super Tuesday for the Texas primary. Harris will have a couple of opportunities to show some strength in Nevada and South Carolina, but she could make a significant dent on Super Tuesday in California and Southern primaries. After the primaries in the middle of March we will have a good idea about which candidates are viable and whether there will be a brokered convention.
