Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumBiden plots an early kill
AxiosWhy it matters: By all accounts, Biden's strategy is working even though his campaign isn't even a month old. And others are noticing and feeling threatened.
He's running like its a general election, cresting the aura of inevitability and readiness to stare down Trump.
He's effectively dancing around topics like the Green New Deal, which could be a killer in the general election, and instead telling voters about the climate proposal he'll unveil as early as the end of this month.
He's promised to never attack a fellow Democrat. As the frontrunner, he's the one who benefits from a primary with minimal infighting.
Early momentum begets money, so his campaign is racing to vacuum up front-runner coin.

I don't like those words.. I guess the writer felt the need to sensationalize with violent words.

(22,236 posts)For example, when the author wrote, "which could be a killer in the general election," what do you think would be a better noun than "killer" to use in that situation?
bummer? Nope
downer? Nope
misfortune? Nope
hardship? Nope
unpleasantness? Nope
discomfort? Nope
debacle? Nope
The most effective word to use there is "killer."

(295,899 posts)I said in the other post.. just all those words in one article was overkill, imho.
NGD could be "Devastating", " a bust.. " "a big Loser.."? And, the title.. Biden plots an early "Win"?
I can't ever remember saying anything about words chosen by a writer before.. I just didn't like all the "kill" references here. Which isn't going to change a thing!

(4,558 posts)even more than I like the idea of my first choice winning.
The sooner it's over, the sooner our candidate can start going all out after Cheetolini.
My gut does tell me that this is just wishful thinking on my part.

(28,303 posts)want an early end to the primaries and a hard, relentless, aggressive focus on the task before us.
I think we will see the VAST majority of these candidates gone before the first vote is even cast and no more than a tiny handful left before super tuesday.
If I had to guess this right now? This is how I see it happening:
It will finally shake out to Biden, Warren, Harris and Sanders alone before super tuesday with Biden and Warren clearly the only two real contenders at that point. After super tuesday, Harris will drop out. I sincerely hope after super tuesday that we don't see Bernie, hanging on desperately, fomenting bitterness or tearing down our nominee when there is so much at stake and he has no mathematical path to the nomination. Time will tell (on all of this) but I think I'll bookmark this thread anyway just to see the ultimate quality of my prognosticatin'.

(146,189 posts)Cast Biden's success so far in polling as an evil, deadly plot to kill off his competition.
What a disgusting use of language to insert criminal intent into the discussion.
I'm surprised to see this posted here. It is so blatantly offensive.
A primary race is a competition. At the end of it, one person emerges as the victor. The rest remain alive and well, and doing whatever it was they were doing before joining the race.
Unrec!

Trying to frame a lack of infighting AS infighting is disgusting.
