Good luck to Mr. Hickenlooper, and all the other Dem candidates. Looking forward to informed debates on the issues.

but that was a good ad. i also think a governor has a better chance to win than a senator, and we don't have many governors left.

to win, our candidate has to stand up to the constant taunts of the bully in chief and his gang. maybe hickenlooper can do it?

7. I agree. I'm looking for a governor, too.

Executive experience. And we have so many candidates who are Senators who I think should stay in the Senate and keep doing good work. The skill set doesn't translate as well to the Oval Office as a governor's.

8. trump is not going to jump on anyone with a "my esteemed colleague"
Mon Mar 4, 2019, 09:27 AM

he is coming low.

i've long been a jerry brown fan but he does have a bit of age.

my governor, john bel edwards, has been great but certainly too conservative (in the better ways) than we need for president.

we just don't have as many governors as we need to have a few choices here.

3. I have been to Denver twice
Mon Mar 4, 2019, 08:35 AM

both times for GALA (gay and lesbian chorus association) conventions and the city is amazing and very welcoming. I never felt afraid to be identifiable as gay while walking its streets and riding its public transportation. To the extent he created that in Denver he deserves much kudos.

4. Why do you support Hickenlooper over all others, brooklynite? As a Coloradoan, I like him and
Mon Mar 4, 2019, 08:38 AM
Mar 2019

have posted my prior concerns (mainly environmental and local control over fracking) that have always kept my support "in check"... Nonetheless, he was a good governor and was able to respond ably to issues with which he disagreed when the public spoke their mind decisively (e.g., legalization of recreational pot, a response that put Colorado on the map as the gold standard).

Still, with all the crowded field, why, brooklynite is Hickenlooper your guy (especially right out of the "chute"?)

5. Several points
Mon Mar 4, 2019, 08:45 AM
Mar 2019

1. As a Governor, he can point to accomplishments in a way that a Senator can't. He's policy-wonkish, but can relate them to impacting the lives of real people. He's also worked effectively with Republicans in the State Legislature.

2. As an urban planner, I can relate to what he was able to do as Mayor of Denver.

3. Even if he doesn't succeed, I think there's value in promoting candidates that don't come from the safe Blue states on the east and west coats.

4. I see problems with the most likely candidates at this point: Bernie Sanders is...Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren has stumbled on handling the Native American DNA issue, and Kamala Harris has never run a challenging race with a Republican opponent.

nb - some of my perspective comes from the fact that I've had the opportunity to meet with him privately to discuss the campaign. I'm open to other options if they present themselves (I've reached out to Inslee for a meeting if he's in town).

10. Please ask my Governor Frackenlooper how he will distance himself from fossil fuels
Mon Mar 4, 2019, 11:41 AM

and thanks for the way he made sure our marijuana were implemented correctly. I liked the video but he missed an excellent chance to point out what we face with climate change, using our fires and droughts and floods here in CO to highlight it. That being said he is just what we don't need at this time.

14. Oil production is still a major industry in Colorado.
Mon Mar 4, 2019, 01:30 PM
Mar 2019

What was he supposed to do, shut down a major state industry that accounts for a lot of jobs? We need to be realistic in our criticisms, also, we need to crown source people or institutions that are researching new alternative energy technologies. We can complain and look for a soft spot in a good candidate, or we can choose to be active change agents.

16. Not drink fracking fluid and claim fracking, which has been proven to cause earthquakes
Mon Mar 4, 2019, 10:02 PM
Mar 2019

is safe? We have a lot of wind here in CO and a lot of open spaces with not enough wind turbines or solar. Sorry when it come to fossil fuels and their impact on climate change, that's my soft spot. He was my governor, I voted for him and donated to him. IMO he's not what we need at this time. YMMV
