As a staunch Harris supporter...

I want to see all of the Democratic candidates shine.

This is the deepest bench the country has ever seen... Let’s all be proud to show it off.

The best competition is stiff competition... It’ll give us the best opportunity to see who’s the best for the job.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I think the worst thing for Democrats would be a rush or push to dismiss the amazing field of candidates in order to crown Biden early. That will only leave the supporters of other candidates with a very sour taste in their mouths and could risk party unity behind the nominee. We all saw how well that worked out in 2016 and as a result I think it is CRUCIAL that ALL candidates be respected, valued and allowed a fair shot to be heard. Yes, there are too many in the race but that will change after the first debate. The race needs to be allowed to play out.

Sat May 18, 2019, 07:54 PM
May 2019

"Instant-runoff voting (IRV) or ranked choice voting (RCV) is a type of ranked preferential voting method used in single-seat elections with more than two candidates. Instead of indicating support for only one candidate, voters in IRV elections can rank the candidates in order of preference."

open the DNC with no clear winner from the primaries and caucuses.

There will be nominations from the floor, which may include persons who were not in the field during the run up. This type of convention can be a lot of fun to watch. With a field this large, that final group could be 3 or 4 people.

This huge field of Democratic candidates is mind boggling, it makes my head spin. Where do you begin to evaluate and compare them all - moreover, in a clear, concise and systematic fashion? If there isn't some concerted effort to do this, I'm afraid that Russian trolls and bots will step in to amplify all the confusion, and turn it into back biting and discord to divide the Democrats. There should definitely be a discussion group or a forum here on DU to try to make sense of the huge Democratic field, and help us all achieve clarity regarding the candidates.

And how much have we heard from the field of 2020 Republican candidates? One lonely guy?

That's why 20 Democratic candidates is worth billion$ in coverage of Democratic solutions, but more important: endless coverage of Trump weaknesses and what is being opposed.
