Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumElizabeth Warren looks so much younger than she is.
So, last night Im sitting around with a bunch of other progressives and we are all talking about the pros and cons of the candidates.
It eventually came around to age and someone said they were ruling out Bernie and Biden because they are both 76 and that nobody in their 70s should be running.
Someone then said so I guess youve ruled out Warren. He said no shes not that old.
Most of us thought she is late 50s or early 60s.
So, we take a few bets and ask the google machine.
And, wow, she will be 70 on June 22.
This doesnt really mean that much to me because Im getting pretty old myself.
And age, like many other factors, is relative and subjective.
But, I will say that I hope I have half of the energy of all 3 of them at their age.
And, hopefully this isnt sexist, but I think Elizabeth looks fantastic.
I really cant believe she is 69.

(2,113 posts)And as we get older we do have additional health concerns. We shouldn't write someone off just due to age but we also can't ignore age as if it doesn't matter at all, because it does.

(102,225 posts)experience quantity, quality, and relevance, and any number of other factors. Some here and I surely hope you are not one have brought up age with every damn candidate older than Mayor Pete or Beto or have made blanket statements in every damned thread about how important it is that we have "no more older candidates" If that isn't blatant, ugly, and unacceptable ageism, I don't know what is.

I dont think age should play any role, if your candidate stands for what you believe in.

(14,118 posts)and look and feel that age. My Mother is still living and is 95. Some people have good genes and physical inheritance. Some don't. I find that Elizabeth is a vital and dynamic person and I support her
as I have since I first learned of her years ago.

(22,236 posts)pass for 22. Kamala Harris could easily pass for 40 instead of 54. Biden could pass for a very fit 70 instead of 76. Amy Klobuchar could pass for 48 instead of 58. Beto could easily pass for 35 instead of 46. Marianne Williamson could pass for 46 instead of 66.
I think the only ones who look their age are Bernie, Bill DeBlasio, John Hickenlooper, and Jay Inslee.
