And I think if we dont take them seriously as presidential candidates, we are not going to hear those voices, she said Tuesday night in an interview. And that would be a tragedy.
Ms. Hills testimony in the Thomas hearings and the hostile questioning she faced from an all-white, all-male Senate Judiciary Committee has led to questions this year about former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., who is leading in early polls for the Democratic presidential nomination, and criticisms that he allowed Ms. Hill to be treated poorly as the committees chairman.
More than a quarter-century later, Ms. Hill said she finds it really, deeply troubling that several of the female 2020 candidates have been discussed as vice presidential material. Both Senator Kamala Harris of California and Stacey Abrams, who narrowly lost the race for Georgia governor last year, have been mentioned as possible running mates for Mr. Biden over the past few months. The Biden campaign team has been adamant that the speculation does not come from them.
Ms. Harris, a presidential candidate, has laughed off the idea, saying last week, I think that Joe Biden would be a great running mate. Ms. Abrams, who has not yet decided whether she will run, has said, you dont run for second place. Ms. Abramss former campaign manager also said in March that there was no grand plan hatched about a joint ticket with Mr. Biden.

(9,967 posts)But her not being president (I don't want to say her loss, because I'm convinced she won but was cheated), well, her not being president has set women back at least a generation.
I wonder how many of the women who didn't vote for her will ever realize the damage they did to themselves, their daughters, possibly even their granddaughters.
Every time I heard someone say "I want a woman, just not that woman. I wanted to scream!

The New York Times asked Whats to be done about Hillary Clinton, the woman who wont go away? For the past two years, people have talked obsessively about the factors that gave Trump the election Russia, Comey, voter suppression, sexism, racism. But the one person who apparently shouldnt contribute to the discussion is the one who was in the eye of the storm.

(13,650 posts)I knew the right wing was filled with sexists but I thought we were better than that. I couldnt believe the vitriol that SOME of my fellow Sanders supporters were spewing at her. Left a really bad taste in my mouth and is part of the reason hes not in my top 5 this go-around.

(11,495 posts)They are not being taken seriously, but I think that will change when the debates start up. I really think we have some great women running, and the debates will give them a chance to reach larger audiences, and to really shine the light on their agenda if they should become the next president.
