Hill-HarrisX poll: Biden w/ 41% of 2016 Clinton supporters. Sanders w/ 39% of his 2016 support

Some extra details from yesterday's Hill-Harris X poll in this article published yesterday:

https://thehill.com/hilltv/what-americas-thinking/445242-poll-almost-half-of-former-hillary-clinton-supporters-are

In a Hill-HarrisX survey of registered voters who identified as Democrats or Democratic-leaning independents who backed Clinton, Biden was named by 41 percent as their pick to be the party's 2020 presidential nominee.

Biden's finished far ahead of second-place finisher South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg who was named by 9 percent of onetime Clinton supporters.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) each received 8 percent while Clinton's closest 2016 challenger, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), was the pick for 6 percent of the respondents.

-snip-

Sanders fared much better among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents who said they opposed Clinton in 2016, but it appears that the Vermont senator may not be as popular among people who had once supported him.

Twenty-seven percent of respondents who said they had previously backed someone other than Clinton said they supported Sanders this time. In the previous Democratic race, Sanders received 43 percent of the primary and caucus ballots that were cast.

Among respondents who said that they had backed Sanders in 2016, 39 percent said they were supporting him this time.

Among those voters who'd opposed Clinton, Biden was in second place with 21% to Sanders' 27%, and Warren in third place with 8%.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I think Bernie's current supporters are close to where his solid base of support is, and I suspect there are many people who are supporting Biden because they know him best, and will likely turn to candidates like Mayor Pete, Buttigieg, Warren, etc -which will make the race a lot closer among those in the lead.

Don’t bet against Biden in a debate. He’s pretty good at them. He doesn’t spout platitudes which is the worst thing to do in such a personal setting.

Others do.

But somehow there are Sanders supporters out there who think the only candidate running for the 2020 Democratic Party nomination for president is Joe Biden?

Never mind the fact that the sheer number of candidates has been covered and joked about ad nauseam across every electronic, broadcast and print media platform known to man.

So yes, you are correct. It makes absolutely no sense.
