Bernie Sanders campaign to hand out bottled water in Denmark a week after SC visit
(snip)
Sanders S.C. campaign director Kwadjo Campbell will be in Denmark on Saturday to hand out free bottled water to residents at 119 Coker Avenue from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the campaign announced in a press release.
(snip)
The event will come one week after the senator from Vermont held a town hall in Denmark to address the towns water issues. Sanders toured a residents home to hear how far they have gone to avoid using the citys tap water since learning Denmark put the unapproved chemical Halosan into its drinking water supply for years.
Sanders visit follows an investigation by The State that highlighted problems with South Carolinas rural, aging water systems. Several 2020 presidential candidates besides Sanders have also sought to address South Carolinas water problems.

Tillman also said the locals told Sanders about rumors that the current bottled water distribution programs in the city may be reduced. The EPA referred Yahoo News to Michigans Department of Environmental Quality for questions about bottle water distribution in Flint. That agencys public information officer would not confirm or deny rumors that the distribution program was ending.
At this point the state has not made an announcement relating to the end of bottled water, DEQ spokeswoman Tiffany Brown told Yahoo News.
Overall, Tillman said Sanders was really concerned and moved by the meeting. He said he was pleased Sanders returned but wasnt shocked to see Sanders back in Flint given the work the senators presidential campaign volunteers did in the city.
I understood that he was committed to doing more than speaking it over the microphone, Tillman said of Sanders. He was definitely committed to Flint.

disinfectant but is not approved for drinking water. It appears that Denmark as been adding it drinking water and is being sued.
