So fucking what..!!! Unless you live 24/7 in a home made Bomb Shelter you know what Joe is all about... For Christ Sakes he was Obama's V.P. for 8 yrs......
"He's Safe.... A Middle Class kind of guy... Gonna definitely pick off thousands of voters from Trump Idiots in key states.. Older Citizens, scared of losing Medicare and Social Security.... (a rich republican Wet Dream)...Young ones who want the NRA to go away.. Forever!! The Image of being a Safe President..rather than our Current President who day by day is succumbing to some kind of dementia illness.
It's funny how so many worry about Joe and his gaffs.. Jesus!!! Trump's mis-statements, gaffs, lies, overall ignorance... Is beyond the pale..
This is how Biden replied to Trump today: "The President's comments are beneath the dignity of the office.. To be on foreign soil, on Memorial Day and to side with a murderous dictator against a fellow American and former V.P. speaks for itself"
Seems to me he's got the right people working for him.. Thats all he needs to do.

(43,302 posts)My biggest critique (by far) of him is his stubborn, disastrous, and completely wrong self-labelling as a democratic socialist when he is simply a social democrat. It hurts all his policies (and many of those are also pushed by our other candidates and congresspeople) by allowing them to be WRONGLY labelled as 'socialist' (and that equates directly to 'commie' in tens of millions of pea-brains in reactionary America) which in turn is electoral poison and makes selling them extremely hard. It puts him (and us all on the left, whether centre left all the way to the fairly far left) on the defensive. It is a profoundly self-indicted wound, and it literally is factually incorrect.

(43,302 posts)labelling?
It is suicidal (politically) and academically not factual. It makes his entire thrust DOA in reactionary America and beggars belief from us who truly care about the underlying philosophical arguments within the political realm. It also puts a huge stigma on NON-SOCIALIST initiatives.
It is wilful madness IMHO.

His support (both weak and STRONG) combine to 40%...If you dissect it out and assume at least some proportion are being honest, it is undoubtedly less than that.
Should that bring us comfort? Not if we become complacent or overwhelmed or buy into the "TRUMP INEVITABILITY" spin.
"You live it"-- I don't doubt it, but neither do I believe that MOST of us do not. Unless one is able to isolate themselves from all the Trumpsters in their life, in all likelihood, MOST of us all live it.

(4,387 posts)...is particularly troubling. Automatically ascribing Obama's policy positions onto someone else is NOT a good idea. Each candidate needs to put their own thoughts and ideas out there to be accurately judged against the others. Otherwise it's just nostalgia driving Biden's popularity and if he does end up getting the nomination some people may be surprised by whatever positions he eventually does take.
Riding this out on a different Presidents reputation is not OK. I'm also not sure how "safe" of a choice he is...electability arguments are mostly useless. There's only one way to know electability and that is proven on election days.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

(8,515 posts)But what I was trying to state ( probably not very well) is the fact that Obama voters will feel safe with a Biden win.. Thats all.. Nothing to do with Obama's policy decisions.. The two are so different .. Obama with his superb intellect and Joe.. His close friend..Totally different.. The only I ask of Joe is to be very careful with gaffs.
Be smart and appoint progressive intelligent aids to provide smart council..
I agree, he might not be as inspiring as most of the others.. but for me I only care about 1 thing... That he takes Trump out of the presidency..

Trump's Trip was perfect.. Simply perfect.. written by his head spokesman..
Very Inspiring IMO.
Here is what his Campaign Manager wrote today:
"The President's comments are beneath the dignity of the office. To be on foreign soil on Memorial Day, and to side repeatedly with a murderous dictator against a fellow American and former Vice President speaks for itself"

thanks again...and you must admit it was perfectly stated..
just proves that picking the right people will be extremely important for the 2020 race..for Biden its 3/4 about who he picks for his advisers and how he relates with them
So far this is the prove's he's off to a great start!
Do I think there are better DEM candidates out there ....Yep.. Harris and Warren to begin with.. But I don't think would do well at this point..Republican's can't wait to start portraying Dems.. as Socialists, Nanny State tax hikers to take care of anyone who wants them.. Left Wing Tree Huggers...Marxists etc. Yep they'll be desperate. No Biden's #1 priority is to get Trump the hell out of the Presidency.. Thats all that matters.. Nothing else is more important

(2,113 posts)How about we see how the debates play out and give it some time before crowning anyone. Shutting down other candidates without giving a fair process amounts to disenfranchising the voters who support other people. That doesn't end well so let's not do that again.

(42,862 posts)It amounts to no such thing and you know it. Nobody is being disenfranchised just because their preferred candidate didn't make the cut. And, they can always "write in" their preferred third-tier or fourth-tier candidate anyway... if that's what they REALLY want to do.
But it's just OTT to try and compare it to actually being disenfranchised. They just disappointed... and that's not the same thing.
