Bernie Sanders Holds Rally in Downtown Reno Wednesday

Update: More than 1,500 people packed into the Reno City Plaza on Wednesday to see Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders speak. Some people had very personal reasons for being there.

“They can't afford to take their kids to the hospital because the copay and the deductibles are so high,” said Sanders during his speech. Jana Menges waited three and a half hours to hear Bernie Sanders speak on healthcare. “The pharmacy told me without insurance it is $12,000 dollars a month for someone with breast cancer. But for all those people who don't have insurance? What about them,” said Menges. “We need a civilized healthcare system. A system with no co-pays , no deductibles, and no premiums. That allows all Americans to go to the doctor’s office,” said Sanders.

Healthcare and keeping down prescription costs are just a couple of the issues Sanders addressed at his campaign rally in Downtown Reno on Wednesday. “We introduced legislation that would put a tax on Wall Street speculation. With that money we will fund free tuition at public colleges,” said Sanders.

Some who are at the rally are simply fans of the man that many simply call Bernie. “I am going to do everything I can to make sure that the Unites States does not get caught in a never ending war in Iran,” said Sanders. “I'd listen to Bernie sanders read a phone book,” said Alex Winters who attended the campaign rally in Reno.
