Our candidates and healthcare.

It occurred to me this morning that we would probably get a better reaction from the masses if we promoted repairing and improving Obamacare with a public option rather than dumping all private insurance in lieu of Medicare-for-all. Not only is Obamacare very popular when Drumpf attempts to slice and dice it, it doesn't hurt to bring up the name of a beloved POTUS when talking about health coverage. In a perfect world it would be different. I hate private insurance companies. But there's one thing I hate even more: Trump. I don't want the stupid and incorrect notion of "socialized medicine" keeping the "never Trumpers" from voting Democratic.

3. In idiomatic American English "the masses" carries a negative shade of meaning.

"The masses" has undertones of an ignorant, uneducated throng of people.

It's really not a neutral, value-free phrasing.

in the post rather than the horror of having millions of people referred to as "masses." This is why Democrats lose. We fight amongst ourselves about stupid things.

....They (we!) are not an "ignorant, uneducated throng of people". Who are you to claim that the majority of Americans are ignorant and uneducated?

That's elitist talk.

have good employer subsidized health insurance. And that's a lot of people. Just look what passing Obamacare did to the congressional Dems in 2010. People don't want their lives turned upside down.
