September Debate should severely winnow the field

The September debates are scheduled for two days.
But they may only need one day.
The criterion to participate doubles to 2% polling and 130,000 donations.
That might leave us with only 6-8 candidates.
I’d actually be fine with that.
The lower level candidates now have July and August to breakthrough.
If not, they should seriously consider dropping out and not waste their time or ours.

1. I think no one will drop out before the 2nd debate unless they run out of money, but...

...after the second debate, you could see attrition from those who know they won't get into the third debate.

One thing to remember is that some of these candidates are in for reasons other than any expectation of a shot at being president, and they can still benefit from whatever debates they can get into. i.e. they could be trying to raise their profile for possible VP selection, future presidential run, etc.
