Our next nominee will only have coattails if they spark imagination that lives will be improved. A historical dimension motivates some voters, too.
A strategy of at least its not Trump will win the national election with the right surgically-targeted state strategy. But it will take more than that to spark a wave election and retake the senate.

I'd rather have a mediocre, middle of the road, wishy-washy DINO but get solidly liberal justices appointed than nominate someone I love, lose, and end up with a replacement for RBG who gives the pubbies a bigger and more reliable majority.
