BREAKING: Milwaukee it is...

WASHINGTON—The Democratic Party has selected Milwaukee to hold its 2020 national convention, choosing to nominate its challenger to President Trump in the key battleground state of Wisconsin.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez would announce Monday that Milwaukee will play host to the convention from July 13-16, 2020, officials told The Wall Street Journal.

MILWAUKEE — Democrats have chosen Milwaukee to host their 2020 national convention.

The Democratic National Committee’s decision will take the party to the heart of the working-class upper Midwest that delivered President Donald Trump to the White House.

Before 2016, Republicans hadn’t won Wisconsin since 1984. Trump added Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania to upset Hillary Clinton.

DNC Chairman Tom Perez picked Milwaukee over Miami and Houston. It will be the first time in more than a century that Democrats gather in a Midwest city other than Chicago to nominate their presidential candidate.

in Milwaukee. Downtown is not dynamic. Hotel choice is poor. Beautiful lakefront, but not much else. Will be interested to see their plans. Perhaps it's the beer and cheese?

But the convention is essentially a party and celebration. Hundreds of delegates and thousands of press will have a difficult time finding adequate upscale lodging and dining venues. Bet Chicago and the northern Illinois suburbs take up the slack. Long rides to the hall for them.

Given that Ohio has almost twice the EC votes, and no president has sat in office without Ohio's EC votes since JFK.

Still, I trust our party's leadership to know what's best strategically.

Texas might have also been a very interesting one, since, depending on who we select, it's actually in play for a change.

I could have even opened up a couple of bedrooms for fellow DU members to stay at while in town

I can see why they ultimately didn't. Only a small handful of candidates really puts TX in play for 2020. If any of the other candidates become the nominee, they would have the convention in an unwinnable state.
