I want to make an award tonight: The Primaries Class Act Award. And tonight's winner is

Eric Swalwell.

He did the right thing, he did it early, and he did it with dignity.

And he is now running for reelection to Congress, where we need him.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

Do we have to limit it to the primaries?

Can you always be the guy to choose the winner, because you are a Class Act, and you know who to give it to?

Congratulations to Eric Swalwell, initial recipient of the Class Act Award!

If we could only win the Senate in 2020, our new president could actually undo some of the carnage. We need great senators and too many of them are running away (from their responsibilities to their constituencies).

If one is the nominee, great. But in this next election, winning back the Senate is more important than the presidency.

Also not to be ageist, just practical about chances: the three candidates born after 1975, and probably those born after 1970 as well, are very unlikely to win the nomination. All are badly needed in Congress, particularly the Senate. ALL should have PLENTY of future elections ahead of them. They need to follow Swalwell's example as well and use that time to build their achievements and help the Dems, again, get control of Congress and state governorships.

to do as Swalwell has done, drop out of Presidential Race, go back to their Congressional District, or better yet, sign up to run for open Senate Races (if there is 2020 Republican race for their State)

Love to see a Democratic President, Democratic Senate and Democratic House. Oh the things we could do, like Impeaching that last Supreme Court Justice....

Swalwell is a good guy and I wish him luck...

However him dropping out hardly makes him a class act. His campaign had very minimal public support or money. He likely wouldnt be in more debates. If he thought he had more of a. 001% chance of winning he would still be running for president.

There are 700 + people running for president btw. Not everyone is entitled to publicity just because they may appear on the ballot.

The presidency may still be in his future but not quite yet. One of the funniest, most spontaneous moments of the race was when he announced on The Late Show and Colbert called his mom. It's at around the 3:50 mark in this clip:
