Mayor DeBlasio should be ashamed of himself (while pumping himself up as a presidential contender.)

Please read Emily Bazelon's important piece in the NYT today entitled "DeBlasio doesn't get it. Not everyone who carries a gun is a shooter." https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/11/opinion/deblasio-guns-prison.html

In this article Bazelon discusses "a model Brooklyn program to keep young people out of jail." My son, a prosecutor in Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez's office, works on this program.

This is a wonderful model program that has reduced gun violence in Brooklyn, kept kids out of jail, created and maintained programs that help these kids complete school and get a job.

My son considers this program his life's work. He is also working in the effort to get the overlong and unjust sentences of those convicted under a past DA reduced. Those were not violent crimes.

It does not surprise me that my son would be involved in such an effort. He was a first responder on 9/11 while a law student at Brooklyn Law School. He is my hero.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Why not cut and paste a bit or summarize more?

You can get a one day digital edition code by going through my county library system’s website and using your library card number.

Support local libraries. They are wonderful resources.

Their writers are top-notch.

I know some people can’t afford it or just want free access. There are a lot of subscriptions I would like, too, but I can’t afford them. I get digital access to the Times through my library’s website, thankfully.
