California Senator Kamala Harris continued to criticize Joe Biden for his record on school desegregation and explained why her campaign isn't "churning out plans like a factory" during a Friday interview on the radio show, "The Breakfast Club." ...
... Harris also explained why she has not released as many policy proposals as some of her fellow 2020 contenders namely Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren who have received widespread attention for a number of highly-detailed and ambitious plans...
... "Well I'm going to tell you, that's why I'm not churning out plans like a factory, because it's really important to me that any plan that I am prepared to implement is actually doable," Harris said.

(25,183 posts)of the Sixteenth Amendment, it was the one that authorized the levying of an income tax, as such a tax was not contemplated in the Constitution. A wealth tax was not, either. Yes, taxpayers pay property tax, which is a kind of wealth tax, but there are no Federal ones, only state and local property taxes.
In the last fifty years, only two Amendments have been ratified. One dealt with lowering the voting age to eighteen, and it was proposed and ratified in 1971, while the Vietnam War was raging, the argument that if you're old enough to die for your country, you're old enough to vote for its leaders won the day. The other Amendment was concerning Congressional pay raises, an issue that certainly doesn't affect the daily lives of the vast majority of Americans, and it had been proposed and passed through Congress just over two centuries earlier.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_amendments_to_the_United_States_Constitution
I don't see this country ever having enough unity to pass a constitutional amendment for anything that is even slightly controversial. Remember, we still haven't passed the Equal Rights Amendment, and that cleared Congress nearly fifty years ago. All it takes are thirteen states to say, "We won't go along with this," and they can stop a proposed amendment from being added to the Constitution.

2) Harris believes Warrens plans have not been thoughtfully prepared for implementation.
3) Harris is still deciding what she plans to do as President
Should be a spirited debate. I think her response was poorly worded. Sounds like she was caught off guard. She might have said that she was putting plans together at a pace that she and her staff were comfortable with and that she believed would give voters ample time to compare/contrast prior to decision time.

you'll see that's how individuals and media sources correctly interpreted what Harris was saying there.
It was what's commonly known as a "thinly veiled shot," with Harris trying to leave herself some deniability while also sniping at Warren.
And it's a logical deduction rather than an assumption because
1) the "churning out plans" description fits only one other candidate,
2) that candidate, Warren, is between Harris and the top of the polls in most polls, and
3) Harris has already shown a willingness to snipe at the front-runner, so
4) very few will be surprised that she'd go after Warren now that Warren is in second place in many polls.

"It's like, 'You get a car! You get a car! You get a car!' It sounds good, but what's real and what's bulls?"
Sen. Harris: "Well I'm going to tell you, that's why I'm not churning out plans like a factory, because it's really important to me that any plan that I am prepared to implement is actually doable," Harris said.
"So you see the bulls too?" Envy asked, referring to the plans of other candidates.

She referred to the statement that Harris made, on the Breakfast Club, when she said: "I'm not churning out plans like a factory".
Kate Bolduan suggested to Waleed Shahid that Kamala Harris almost seemed to be mocking Warren's plans.
Shahid responded that it was surprising because he thought that, with her performance at the debate with Joe Biden, progressives were starting to have an interest in Kamala Harris. He said that it's kind of weird that she would come out against Elizabeth Warren in this way.

(424 posts)I appreciated Harris having the conversation at the debate and I like hearing what the others have to say on this particular conversation. I do not want that to stop. I think we will all have our level of seeing it productive rather than counter productive. I think this is something we have to be more fluid with but I do know that often we hamper a woman's ability to compete. We watched with HRC how she had to tip toe in the primary and it really made it much harder for her to competitively run. She coddled Sanders as she was being torn up, turning the other cheek while ignoring. She merely said Trumps people were deplorable and oh the outrage that she was running a negative campaign. We put so many obstacles in front of a woman, while running.
Snipe is defined as petty. Soon we will be using catty and such. We are creating our own caricature here and we tend to take the same path with women. I am not going to play. Our women are smart, professional, strong. I am standing with her.
If Biden supporters had not countered the attack with stating Harris was saying Biden is a racist, 180 to her actual words, then we would not have handed Trump a weapon against Biden in 2020. Instead, by claiming Harris was saying Biden is a racist we told the world some of us think Biden is a racist. How smart was that? Instead we could have stated, well of course Biden is not a racist, see we ALL agree, the supporters provided the weapon for Trump. I think it is something to be aware of as we go forward.

I say what I mean; I choose my words carefully. You are telling me otherwise, and you are doing it as if it is a fact regardless of my sharing that I mean exactly the words I say. When I say, my father is not a racist, I mean my father is not a racist. My father's support of Trump and not speaking out encourages racism. What he is, is privileged and I understand why he is doing what he is doing. I still think it is wrong for the simple fact it feeds an hostile and racist environment. He is old, cognitive is not the same as earlier decades and he lives in an environment where they support each other in their obtuseness thru privilege. I also know how he has lived for my lifetime that allows me to be comfortable stating he is not a racist.
I do not think Sanders is a sexist. I do think his male privilege and stubbornness and ego feeds into the patriarchy. I think Biden's behavior feeds into the patriarchy in a benevolent way and he is a champion of women and girls and has been for decades. I know he will be on my side. Sanders may be a little too careless in this regard.

She does not want to alienate Warren supporters, as she needs them down the road and they dont just like Warren, they love her.
Meanwhile, she still needs more AA support, which she will try to pick off from Joe, who nationally runs far ahead with the black electorate.
