Elizabeth Warren Confronted By Screaming Protester Demanding Legalization of All Undocumented

Immigrants ‘On Day One’

The protester is from the same group that went after Biden in NJ last week and NH this weekend. (Link to my reply in an earlier thread about this group, which links to more info on them and also lists their demands: https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1287&pid=197502 )

They've said on Twitter and on their website that their intent was to demand certain commitments from ALL the Democratic candidates, but since I hadn't heard of any confrontations with candidates other than Biden until this morning, I wasn't sure how serious they were about that.

Apparently they are serious.

And very disruptive.

Mediate article, with video:

https://www.mediaite.com/news/elizabeth-warren-confronted-by-protester-demanding-legalization-of-all-undocumented-immigrants-on-day-one/

“Will you commit to the immediate legalization of the 11 million undocumented immigrants in this country and the reunification of their families under the Obama administration and the Trump administration?” the woman shouted.

“I do,” Warren said, mid-question.

As the moderator offered Warren a chance to respond, Warren said “Let’s talk about immigration…”

“Do you commit, on Day One, to immediately legalize the 11 million undocumented immigrants, and reunify their families?” the activist interrupted again. “Do you commit, on Day One?”

After about a minute of shouting, as Warren began to answer, the activist was escorted out, still shouting “You’re not committing!”

Trying to get a "too far left" statement from candidates is an attempt at an old trick. Don't we know this yet?

this is not an effective strategy.. and trying to corner our leaders in the primaries is highly suspicious to me.. I have seen this before.. with operatives posing at regular people in Florida.. yelling at vote counters..

I found the second part of this statement wrongheaded and naive, "We believe that in order to win real protection for our communities, we need to mobilize millions of active supporters—by polarizing the American people to take an active stance on immigration issues."

6. You're welcome! As I said in the earlier post I linked to, their demands are simply unrealistic.

I wasn't at all happy when it looked as though they were targeting only Biden despite their statements they'd make demands from all the candidates.

But I'm not at all happy that they really are going after other candidates, too.

Democrats do NOT need a group like this setting out to disrupt candidates' appearances.

Or write them off as some group being pushed by shady elements.

The psychological warfare that has been perpetrated against these people has been brutal. They are at a point where it so bad that there is a fight going on over the brushing of teeth. We’re not sure they are worthy. Their dignity has been stolen. It’s hard for me to think any of these demands are off the wall considering the current status at the border and in detention camps elsewhere.

These people seem to be activists. They are fed up and rightfully so. We should respect their right to demand promises. Only one side is going to help in this matter. Ours. Candidates handle the aftermath of these protests properly and they will garner a larger audience. An audience that is desperately looking for someone to trust and place hope in.

policies, as I said in my previous post about this group:

https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1287&pid=197502

Including a demand that the candidates commit to "family reunification for all," meaning that they want the candidates to commit to returning every immigrant deported from the US since 2001 (since they want to go back through the Bush administration) to this country.

That will hurt whoever our nominee is in the GE.

It will not do this group of activists any good if they re-elect Trump by making impossible demands of our candidates.
