Support for impeachment falls as 2020 heats up

And that could leave the Democrats’ 2020 hopefuls with a voter base that sees things differently.

WASHINGTON - None of the 20-plus Democrats running for president have wanted to make impeaching President Trump a central focus of their campaign. That is, until last week when billionaire businessman and impeachment advocate Tom Steyer entered the race.

But the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows enthusiasm for impeachment may be waning and that could leave the Democrats’ 2020 hopefuls with a voter base that sees things differently and a complicated issue to tackle as their primary campaign revs up.

Overall, the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows a decline compared to last month in the number of people who say they want to hold impeachment hearings now.

The latest survey finds that 21 percent of registered voters say that there is enough evidence for Congress to begin impeachment hearings now. In June, 27 percent in the poll the same thing, a six-point drop in one month – though that survey was of Americans, not registered voters.

The survey isn’t all good news for Trump. The latest survey showed a three-point increase in the number of people who want to see Congress continue its investigation and see where it leads.

Of course support is waning. But that won’t mean shit when our candidates explain why they support treating the Mueller Report as an impeachment referral. Expect the applause to be long and loud.

Alternatively, do you actually expect the base to punish pro-impeachment candidates? Please.

To beg her not to vote ‘yes’ on the Iraq War part II. Same with HRC and Biden. I have some respect for Pelosi but my trust in her ability to do the right thing in difficult times is pretty weak. It’s all a game to these people. They have their special seats on special committees and endless investigations so they can all watch each other jerk off and pat each other on the back. Congress is a clique that omits the American people. It’s all a social circle, a game that only benefits themselves. The freshman Congresswomen are dead on right to push back against all of them.

From C. Wright Mills, The Power Elite (1956):

’Lack of imagination,’ Gerald W. Johnson has noted, ‘is not to be confused with lack of principle. On the contrary, an unimaginative man is often a man of the highest principles. The trouble is that his principles conform to Cornford’s famous definition: “A principle is a rule of inaction giving valid general reasons for not doing in a specific instance what to unprincipled instinct would seem to be right.”’

Democrats in Congress are there to help all Americans while Republicans are there to help the rich. There’s a huge difference between them and to me, Pelosi has been one of the best Speakers of the House we’ve ever had.

Second, impeachment isn't based on a poll, 19% favored impeachment for Nixon. If impeachment is warranted then impeachment is obligated, it isn't a choice.

How can impeachment be dropping when Trump has 2 rape accusers on the front page?

All of these posts from the M$M make me laugh. The M$M is not our friend. The Daily Kos is bashed here because it is too liberal. I have a message for people here who think Kos is too liberal, don't listen to Sirius radio.

I don't blame people here for pushing right wing talking points because these people believe that msnbc is liberal.

I wish I could pipe in 24 hours of Sirius radio to people here who believe that Kos is too liberal.

I understand that Pelosi has hard feelings because AOC beat out her friend Crowley, but Nancy isn't the one getting death threats every day, AOC and her 3 friends are, why is that, because the right fears AOC and her 3 friends.
