Kamala Harris defends Pelosi - the mark of a team-player

Kamala Harris defends Nancy Pelosi: 'I've known her to be very respectful of women of color'
By Dan Merica, CNN

Washington (CNN)California Sen. Kamala Harris defended House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in a new interview, stating that she has had "a different experience" than New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who recently accused the House leader of "singling out of newly elected women of color."

"That's not my experience with Nancy Pelosi," Harris told the host of the "The Breakfast Club," a popular New York-based radio show, during an interview that aired Friday. "And I've known her and worked with her for years. I've known her to be very respectful of women of color and very supportive of them."

That was pretty much the last time we could be proud of Sanders in that primary race before he showed he was NOT actually a team player at all.

Are you suggesting that Harris is likely to take a turn for the ruthless?

he always talks about. He realized afterward just what he had done and tried to back track, but it was amusing to watch. Sanders can be cheered about a lot of things but being a team player does not make it on the list. He has an history of exactly the opposite.

I remember when he did that. It was fun to watch.

Accusing Pelosi of failing to “support actual policies that help women of color” is just as much “about race” as accusing her of targeting women of color. It’s just a different way of wording it

you could have just said that without invoking black women. There was no need to single out and inject black women specifically into the conversation ... Unless you think that race has some relevance to your point.

10. Timing
Sun Jul 14, 2019, 01:41 PM
Jul 2019

is important. Many folks do not support progressive policy and legislation at this point and time. So Pelosi is not alone in that regard. The question is why? Pelosi knows elections are won in the middle. Sometimes I can't help wonder if progressives understand about losing. We need a Dem win and then you bring the country along. What good does it do if your ideas aren't widely supported or there aren't enough folks in DC to make it happen? Win first!

Will it affect the viability of even moderate women candidates? It appears that Harris has pulled back from her former position and is taking a more moderate and cautious approach to maintain party solidarity as the more extreme liberals have increased their attack especially on the perceived front runner, Biden. Just what effect could this have on winning the ultimate prize, the White House. Are they really representing even a marginal number of voters and jeopardizing the chances of less radical candidates? Personally, this appears to be a rather risky situation.

I love the Gang of Four - or Five or Six. . .

My wife, as much a liberal, progressive Dem as I am, maybe even more, hates them. For all the reasons discussed here and elsewhere.

Too young to know as much as they think they know, in it for Twitter followers, plays into Trump's hands, etc.

Married long enough to know that I don't argue.

But do any others in my position have "safe" responses that will probably not lead to outright household warfare?

Sounds like DU, especially during primary season, when we see an influx of young people who believe they need to teach us something.

Same thing at local and state parties, when kids fall in love with the progressive du jour, swoop into party headquarters, and ask if we have ever considered canvassing, phone banking, and do we want them to teach us how?

My wife is further left than I am, especially her stances on woo (vaccinations, fuoride, GMO, homeopathy, etc.)

So my safe advice for you? Just say 'yes dear.'

I don’t mind Harris saying what she did but to call it the mark of a team player is BS.
