Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forum"Gotta win" Nevada, Biden says
Joe Biden may be running against two dozen fellow Democrats in the presidential primary, but other than to joke Saturday in Las Vegas about whether another candidate would join the field by days end, Biden focused on the ultimate prize defeating Donald Trump, who Biden says has done everything but rip the soul out of this country.
He doubled down as you saw recently at his rally in North Carolina. Send her home. Send her home, Biden said, slightly misquoting the North Carolina crowds chant of send her back, in reference to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. When has a president of the United States ever said anything like that? I said before, this guys a lot more George Wallace than George Washington and guess what? Our kids are listening.
When you have the chancellor of Germany who was behind the Iron Curtain for half of her, two-thirds of her life, saying publicly, criticizing Donald Trump for what he said, Biden said of Angela Merkel, who said Friday she feels solidarity with the congresswomen targeted by Trump.
The reason Nevada is so important is its such a reflection of who we are as a country Latina, black, white, Asian.

(15,512 posts)and that's a good thing! He's always right on message even when he doesn't have the latest stat at his fingertips. That's our Joe!
p.s. I also like how he's keeping the focus on Trump and not on the senators

(15,512 posts)It was kind of a shock and I wasn't sure how it would play. But it was brilliant. I had that same thought today: good lord, Biden in the WH! Well this time I'm a little more confident in a good outcome!

(297,166 posts)that much about Biden.. but I learned to love him and the President, over the years, in Obama's White House.

(15,512 posts)because of the stuff he'd say. They really hated him, a lot like they hated Al Franken it turns out (reading Jane Mayer's article now), because of the cracks he used to make on TV. Kind of eerie in fact. So they always went after the stupidest stuff they could find, like the alleged plagiarism, and made a big sticky goo about it. So he had to withdraw from a couple of runs at President. But basically he was one of those guys you'd look forward to seeing on TV because he always said really right-on funny stuff. Of course, not everyone was amused! But he got through it.
p.s. I hope Al recovers and runs again for Senate.

(297,166 posts)mini-background on the gop's reaction to Biden over the years. I can imagine they really don't want him in the WH. Too bad. They want a ******* traitor.
It would be just desserts if Al Franken could come back in some way to public life. We miss him.. he was good for our country

(13,037 posts)Biden is absolutely correct re: nevada being a reflection of the country. As his campaign slogan says, "America is an idea". We are the result of the idea that all peoples from every background, race, gender, social status, can coexist to form a peaceful union. Diversity is the element that makes it the greateat nation on
earth.
