Ted Kennedy's '06 "Medicare for All" bill looks a lot more like Kamala Harris' Medicare for All plan

...than Bernie's:

Maya Harris @mayaharris_1h
Fun Fact: In 2006, Sen. Ted Kennedy introduced a “Medicare for All” bill similar to @KamalaHarris’ new plan. But people out here trying to trademark the phrase & saying she can’t call her plan Medicare for All.
🤔🤷🏽‍♀️

TED KENNEDY’s 2006 “Medicare for All” bill looks a lot more like @KamalaHarris’ Medicare for All plan than Bernie’s. Since we’re apparently debating monikers today...

1. Except, Harris' proposal has everyone going to Medicare-for-All after 10 years. It's pretty much

Sanders' plan, transitioned over 10 years, rather than 4.

At end of 10 years, if not sooner, there would be no need for private insurance, especially if the plan really does repeal coinsurance, deductible, covers dental and vision, etc., unless people see M4A as a flop. Not worried about private insurers, but I am worried that people who are opposed to M4A -- rather than "Medicare for those who want it" -- will see through the ruse. Hope she reconsiders her plan.

...it's basically a bridge for those who fear transitioning away from their plans. I don't think any significant amount of people will be sore about being given more time.

5. Then, just say it -- "My plan is Medicare-for-Everybody (No-Choice) in 10 years, rather than 4."

If people want that, they'll vote for it. Don't try to muddy water to fool people.

It is not Democrats' reponsibility to write ads for the GOP.

but is hazy on health and trade.

Of Interest -
Warren authored the Consumer Health Insurance Protection Act, 2018, aka the ACA 2.0, which VP Biden used in his Health Care Plan.

...I don't think they're trying to fool anyone.

I think the longer end date makes it more palatable to those who believe transitioning will be disruptive to their interests.

..and adjusted her plan.

It not unusual for talking points to be less defining than ACTUAL plans campaigns eventually release.
