Pete Buttigieg warned his fellow Democrats that Republicans would attack them as crazy socialists regardless of the positions they take.
Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, had said earlier in the night that is time to stop worrying about what the Republicans will say about any Democratic policy positions.
Its true that if we embrace a far-left agenda, theyre going to say were a bunch of crazy socialists, he said. If we embrace a conservative agenda, you know what theyre going to do? Theyre going to say were a bunch of crazy socialists.
So, he said, lets just stand up for the right policy, go out there and defend it.

(16,616 posts)Chris Hedges was the person who woke me up to the realization that both parties had moved so far to the right that once-mainstream views were being derided by Republicans as "far left." It's tragic we allowed that perception to happen but this new pack of candidates might be the perfect messengers to fix this. Voters still know what they want and a lot of it is common sense and, yes, mainstream.

(22,566 posts)well let's just throw caution to the wind and go all-out on the idea of socialist programs. After all, what could go wrong because anybody we nominate is a sure thing to beat Trump.
The fly in the ointment is that none of the socialistic proposals will never be passed into law soon, not that any who propose them ever explain just how they will be passed into law.

(20,629 posts)most radical position, but the one that would have the most positive impacts on the highest number of people. If you review his policy positions, he actually does lie somewhere between the most hard-core progressives and the absolute centrists.
