41. INSLEE! His climate change critique of Biden on science isn't wrong.
Wed Jul 31, 2019, 09:46 PM
Jul 2019

Biden is good on ending fossil subsidies.

Inslee is right about only having TEN YEARS. AND internationally he'll have us BACK into the Paris Accords.

Yay, Harris supports Inslee! She repeats everything Inslee's for.

Gillibrand will lead (?) the world in the conversation, as if they need that. She likens herself with JFK and endorses the Green New Deal.

Gabbard doesn't endorse the GND b/c FOR HAWAII, it's "a way of life," and cites her "off fossil fuel" program. Not bad.

Booker: agrees with Inslee! Inslee's humor lightens things. "I joined in the Kyoto accords, and rejoining the Paris accords is kindergarten cuz of course. US must lead! "

bility.

Gabbard on China: "we stay competitive by pushing for fair trade," which she got from Bernie, sounding like Bernie; wouldn't keep a tariff on China in place b/c it hurts domestic farmers and manufacturers

Biden: I'd renegotiate the TPP; we have to rejoin with the 40% of Pacific nations we had trade with, and climate scientists sand environmentalists are there;

DeBlasio: to everyone: Trump tries to sell NAFTA 2.0; Mr JB, do you oppose a new NAFTA? From Biden: "Yes.
And I love your affection for me."

From Flint people: to Bennet: it's not just about trade but investing in this country; we've increased income inequality from the federal govt (NOT mentioning Trump!); always the "WE" who did the wrong stuff -- too weak with the wouldashouldacoulda put all on "WE."

To Yang about women: gender pay gap -- should we fine companies? Yang: I've seen it in tech world; think about women in every situation potentially vulnerable to abuse; give women econ freedom w/ a dividend of
monthly UBI;

Harris: in 2019, yes, I propose to rquire corps whether they pay equally or not on sites; corps will be fined 1% of previous yer's profits

Gillibrand: we have to have a broader conversation! To JB: voted against childcare in an OpEd b/c of responsibility avoidance to families and in general; what did he mean when he said that:

JB: it would have given people $100,000 the break but he wanted those making LESS to get the tax break and has his own kids and he can do force corps to do it; KG -- what did you mean?

JB: my wives worked, I wrote VAWA; you agreed that I did great things when we were at Syracuse, but now you don't seem to be running for president; I never believed what YOU say I said then

K Harris: on abortion & rape, have you changed your mind?
JB: Senator knows and everyone here knows and voted for the Hyde Amendment; once I wrote the legis,
I support a woman's right to choose, and will legislate support for Roe

Inslee: My state won the largest pay increase for teachers in nurses in the USA

This exchange on economic equity was good, I think.

pointing out he didn't vote for the Iraq war.

Biden regretting his vote.

Tulsi: we were lied to and betrayed. She enlisted after 911. Current President betraying us.

DiBlasio tries to cut in; gets shut down. Have to admit, he's not getting called on.

Answers by Booker, Julian also seem united on impeachment & holding 45 accountable to his crimes.
Don't agree w/ Blasio & Bennet. "Walk & chew gum" good rebut by Castro. Really poked Bennet there

DeBlasio 7 -- class/job emphasis

Bennet 8 -- history/courage

Inslee 9 -- climate/future/website

Gillibrand 7 -- divider v. doer

Gabbard 7 -- warmonger patriotism v domestic patriotism

Castro 7 -- divisive v nat'l unity + destiny

Yang 8 -- reality TV America v reality of America (point for funny on the forward math)

Booker 8 -- cityunities/families/indivisibility v Trump divisiveness

Harris 7 -- I fight predators/ I'll prosecute Trump's rap sheet/ 3 am agenda

Biden 8 -- soul of America won't exist after 8 years/ WE choose science hope unity, and can do ANYthing

I gave an extra point for the unexpected, which included website, humor, passion and presidential demeanor

I could argue for age and looks but not this time.

Did I say I love DU?

138. My subjective grades on closing statements:

Jul 2019

De Blasio B tax the hell out of the rich
Bennet C already forgot what he said
Inslee B+ good on climate change (but it’s not just the petroleum/coal industry, Gov)
Gillibrand D she brought Congress together (???)
Gabbard B+ great on warmongers (didn’t mention climate change)
Castro C vague
Yang B reality television, free money!
Booker B common bonds
Harris A we have a predator in the White House, predators are cowards
Biden A battle for the soul of America

Overall, I think Inslee, Yang, and Booker carried the night.
