Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumThe more Inslee shows up, the more electable he gets.
The debate let everyone know our great party's A List candidates -- including their pasts, their fight, their fairness and their respect for each other and the country.
I don't agree with CNN's ratings of our candidates.
I know I'm biased for Inslee, but he's not mentioned, and the most serious issue of our time, was ignored.
Still CNN compares tonight to last night unfairly.
Overall, I heard the most, saw the most, and the country got the most content out of our candidates tonight.

(81,194 posts)Once he even butted in to make a point. YES!!! I still like him best. Had a chance to meet him at a local reception. Id love to see him in the top tier - he has the most to offer on the biggest issue we face: the survival of life on this planet.
He did well tonight!

At THIS point ANY of our candidates will just have to stand and talk like Hillary did to show Trump for the fakeass fatass feckless fool he's always been.
Sure, he'll TRY to appear "presidential" and LORD his 4 years' experience over whoever, but ALL of America will know what a criminal con man liar and loser he's been.
Inslee can't stand up against Trump? Pffft

(36,017 posts)ing the filibuster rule was one of the two most important points of the whole debate? It challenged everyone there.
You sound like you haven't read much about what he's accomplished.
I know what you meant by "I don't know" as being doubtful. Yet, I think you also really don't know.
So will you say who was your favorite and why?

(32,679 posts)Nothing else can be achieved, including addressing climate change, until we get our elections and voting rights under control. The rethugs are attempting to set up minority rule.
I guess my favorites tonight were Yang and Castro. Yang nailed the healthcare issue in 30 seconds. Castro finally exposed Nancy & Co. to what trump will say if we don't impeach. I don't think they ever considered the alternative or that trump has a whine/brag for every scenario.

(36,017 posts)done by any of our candidates. It's just not their job right now, nevermind Inslee's.
My position is that our party is good at being right on any and all issues. But Inslee is the most right on the most important issue, whether Trump stays or goes, or whether any other candidate wins. Inslee can show that what his state has done to get clean energy, is scalable for the country. If Inslee were to win, I'm positive your voting concerns would be addressed immediately, since he's got the most efficient, honest election system already working in his state. With a Democratic majority Senate, we'll fix so much that we'll redefine "winning."
I loved Yang. Castro's laying out the Republican approach was really the first time any of the candidates showed what they know about their party opponents, and not just Trump. Yes.
Don't worry about our nominee's ability to predict Trump in debate. We've all learned his playbook and all the prep will be like IF THIS/ SAY THAT. Any one of them would not only do that, but be far more presidential in content and demeanor than Trump.
Thanks for your post. Much appreciated.

Of all the candidates whose issues are PLANS, Jay Inslee stands out as the only one who has already DONE the following in his state:
-- Marijuana laws
-- free college tuition laws,
-- clean energy laws,
-- immigration laws,
-- income inequality and minimum wage laws,
-- family leave laws,
-- union laws,
-- sweeping voter registration laws.
He even sued Trump over the Muslim ban and won.
Inslee, like America's Millennials, is a doer, not a talker.
As for realistic PLANS, Jay Inslee's Climate Change Mobilization Project is far reaching beyond our borders, and will be taken seriously by America's allies.
Right now, Jay Inslee the only Democratic leader who knows how to do what it takes to stay below the 2 Centigree threshhold from which there will be no return, and how to get the funding to do it.
What makes Inslee best qualified?
1. He is, right now, a state governor. He is governor of the #1 ranked state in America. His years as governor is a whole level of executive -- "execution" of decisions, law writing, shepherding bills through both parties of the statehouse, implementing and monitoring laws -- experience that none of the other Democratic candidates have.
2. Inslee has spent several terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, therefore has a federal knowledge of its processes in serving both national interests and his state's interests -- experience they don't have.
3. Inslee has been president of the National Governors Association, which puts him in good relations with a lot of red state governors -- experience the other candidates haven't got.
4. There is no oppo on Jay Inslee; he's clean.
5. His donor list is clean -- unions, SIX First Nations Tribes, university and tech money.
6. Inslee's also got tough chops for a national debate. AND he's got zingers like "Trump couldn't run a two-car funeral..." and others.
7. Finally, and not for nothing, his youth puts him into the same age advantage category as the younger candidates.
8. Inslee is a green new deal torch bearer. While others offer plans, Inslee has already ...
-- made scalable green projects in his state,
-- developed green banking,
-- assured our allies of our future commitment to foreign energy policy, and
-- signaled markets on how to grow trillions of dollars while decreasing national debt.
To me, Jay Inslee is a good sell to voters.

For all that he's accomplished for his state, and as influential president of the National Governors' Association, for the proven, detailed climate crisis plans he's put forward for the country and world, he is the most underrated candidate, imo.

(81,194 posts)Mainly because, to me, the climate crisis is our Number One problem. And hes a governor so he already has experience as a chief executive, which means he hasnt been a Johnny One Note running his state. A governor has to have a handle on all kinds of serious issues.

He's a nice guy, praised them all highly, but he did hit them all with the challenge to end the filibuster. So he's not afraid to confront people with what they ignore and what will hurt our cause. And he put it in both a serious way, not an attacking way.
Jay is focused, and will be that way as president.
