Sanders says McConnell should call Senate into session for gun safety bill

(snip)

"Mitch McConnell should bring the Senate back into session immediately to pass HR 8, the gun safety bill that has already passed the House. That's a first step to addressing our serious gun violence epidemic," Sanders tweeted.

(snip)

Sanders' Senate colleague Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) called on McConnell to do the same on CBS's "Face the Nation."

(snip)

The bill Sanders is calling for a vote on, H.R.8 or the "Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019," would require a background check on every gun sale or transfer.

It was passed by the Democratic-controlled House in February.

Promises of executive actions are easy to make on the campaign trail but this is something that as one of the most powerful people in the U.S., Democratic Senators should join their voices to support to put Moscow Mitch on the defensive.

Two horrible events in one day across the country, dead people shot for no good reason because we will not regulate gun owners like other countries do.

4. Something drastic must be done immediately. HR8 would help, but not enough.

Many of the guns that get into the hands of these psychopaths could possibly be guns already owned, or they could be black market guns. Many of the guns are coming from gun shows in the South and smuggled to cities up north for purchase by gangs. What do we do with the guns unaccounted for that are already out there? As we speak gun sales are probably going sky high.

It is time to ban all semiautomatic weapons immediately. No one should be allowed to possess these weapons of mass destruction. Banning all guns will never happen and shouldn't happen. It is time to get real!

this morning, as your post says. While Bernie is not wrong, he does not get to take credit for this.

I hope other Democrats, and a few brave Republicans start saying the same thing.

going with the "mental health" excuse.

Sen. Bernie Sanders: "I think all over the world people are looking at the United States and wondering what is going on, what is the mental health situation in America where time after time after time we're seeing indescribable horrors."
