WASHINGTON Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, slammed the media for what he saw as a failure to "connect the dots" between President Donald Trump's rhetoric and the El Paso, Texas, mass shooting that took the lives of at least 20 people and is being investigated as a potential hate crime.
O'Rourke, a Democratic presidential candidate, represented El Paso in the House of Representatives from January 2013 to January 2019. He had been speaking at a vigil for victims of the shooting when he was asked what he thought Trump could do to make things better.
The question seemed to strike a nerve with O'Rourke.
What do you think? You know the sh-- hes been saying. Hes been calling Mexican immigrants rapists and criminals," O'Rourke said in a video posted by Sky News. "I dont know, like, members of the press, what the f---?

(6,280 posts).... watch Morning Joe who along with Mika, and their entire panel were all over that shit this morning as they are every morning. As a matter of fact, once there was a somewhat legitimate connection to Trump with the killers manifesto, MSNBC, and CNN were making that connection on air. Faux News was sugar coating, covering up, and coming up with lame ass explanations, but that's par for the course on that station.

(67,782 posts)...has been devoted to connecting the El Paso shooting to trump's hate speech on CNN (don't watch MSNBC enough to say)
I was actually glad they've done so. This morning Poppy Harlowe/Jim Sciutto had five guests on at the same time talking about this - four "liberal" people and that idiot Dave Urban. Most of it centered around how trump is inciting things like this. They even showed that video of him in Florida recently when somebody said "shoot them" and he said "only in the panhandle".
Thankfully they're FINALLY emphasizing the obvious connection.

(6,280 posts)....has been connecting Trump to inciting violence for some time now. Long before Beto O'Rourke called out the media. I'm not saying Beto O'Rourke is wrong, but he shouldn't have used they all inclusive broad blanket. I'll refer you to the date of the article.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough passionately insists Trump is 'trying to move people to violence'. April 29, 2019
MSNBC's Joe Scarborough tore into President Trump on Monday morning, accusing him of inciting violence and arguing he has blood on his hands.
The MSNBC host went on to speak directly to Trump, telling him that "the blood that is spilled is on your hands, from white nationalists and people who listen to that sort of rhetoric," which he said is "so far beyond dog whistles." It's "just obvious" that Trump is "inciting violence" and is "unfit to be president of the United States," Scarborough fumed.
