Iowa Lemonade Stand Gets Presidential Campaign Attention

Kim Norvell @KimNorvellDMR
Just happened to come across ⁦@ewarren buying lemonade from some girls in Harlan. It was $7 — she gave them $10.

This is Iowa!

No, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) didn't get conned into paying $7 for lemonade from an Iowa child's stand.

Warren, like nearly every other 2020 presidential candidate, is in Iowa for its annual state fair. But before she headed to pet some livestock, as any good candidate should, she spent some time emphatically praising the word "porch" and buying some seemingly overpriced lemonade on the side of the road.

To be clear, that wasn't one $7 cup of lemonade, but seven $1 cups for some people traveling with Warren.

Dennis and Joey are selling lemonade, $10 a glass.

Dennis says to Joey: "But Joey, all we have to sell is one glass!"

All said, smart kids. They knew there'd be candidates coming by with entourages and media in tow. What candidate is going to drive past a lemonade stand run by two young entrepreneurs. Think of the photo op possibilities. And having stopped, what candidate could afford to pass on buying a glass, no matter how hefty the price. Now the photo op becomes a photo fear, instead. So everyone of them will pony up whatever is required.

Smart kids.

A peculiarity that I notice. Lots of girls and young women jog and run around in very short shorts. Almost all the similarly aged male teens and older wear quite longer shorts.

Now, I understand it is rude and un-feministic to stare at girls' chests, butts, etc.

A pair of shorts with big letters across the butt "PW..." invites attention. Couldn't help noticing the attached legs. I am far from a misogynist, rather more a miso-philist, so I do not object to this cultural rite. We in Massachusetts are not so puritanical as earlier.
