SurveyUSA included Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey in General Election polling vs. Trump

in their latest national poll, as well as polls of California and North Carolina.

Both women would beat Trump nationally as well as in North Carolina and (of course) California.

Michelle would do better than Oprah, but both could beat Trump, according to these polls.

Nationally:

http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReport.aspx?g=e05bf5ae-982d-4f96-b0ae-671cdfe56aab

Michelle Obama 51%, Trump 43%

Oprah Winfrey 46%, Trump 43%

North Carolina:

http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReport.aspx?g=29ae3168-9e12-474f-a207-f9a662509d55

Michelle 50%, Trump 43%

Oprah 45%, Trump 43%

California:

http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReport.aspx?g=e3191035-e21e-46b7-916a-21fda59627fd

Michelle 64%, Trump 28%

Oprah 57%, Trump 28%

Now, as to how Biden, the strongest current candidate, fares against Trump:

He beats Trump by 8 points nationally, 50-42.

He beats Trump by 8 points in NC, 49-41.

He beats Trump by 34 points in California, 61-27.

I've seen some DUers say that if Michelle joined the race, she would be our strongest candidate.

And possibly she would (though she's made it clear she is NOT interestsd in running).

But in these polls, Biden beats Trump by comparable margins (idential margins nationally, Biden slightly better in NC, Michelle slightly better in CA).

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

4. Because a lot of people have said they'd like Michelle and Oprah to run. So this pollster decided

Trump never gets above his approval numbers. Which means, he's toast come November.

5. People assume she's like Barack, but she's not.

She's far to the left of him. She would be a poor candidate imo. The poll numbers reflect her time as First Lady, not as being a politician.

Oprah is similar. Oprah's politics are far left and would not do well once voters found that out.

6. The interesting point is that against both Oprah and Michelle he gets no better than 43%

in NC and only 41% against Biden. California is a given that no matter who dems nominate they will beat Trump there by several million votes.

7. 45 will struggle to win 30% in CA and could lose the state by 8 million or more votes.

The Dem popular vote margin in 2020 is going to be massive, as irrelevant as it is.
