Campaigning in Iowa, Joe Biden is in his zone (CNN Wire)

I wish I could quote the entire article which is full of Joe's heartfelt and kind first-person encounters. The reporter did a great job of pointing out the ageist rightwing meme coming out of the White House which many writers are too lazy to point out and what Joe had to say about why the Trump Administration is doing that.

Since I am only allowed to post four paragraphs, I will let this Iowan speak for Joe's appeal to regular guys like him.

Craven, the father Biden promised to call, dismissed the attention to the former vice president’s so-called gaffes.

“He’s a human being like the rest of us, instead of just a Democrat,” Craven said when asked why he isn’t seriously considering any of the other Democratic candidates. “I’ve read his book. I’ve listened to him speak going as back as far as the Obama campaign. I worked 40 years as an electric utility lineman, a foreman, and I understand that experience counts. And some of these people, I don’t believe have reached the level of experience to where they can handle the job that Trump is going to leave us.”

He continued: “I didn’t think it was possible for one man to destroy the fabric of this country. I’m just a fat, old retired guy from the Midwest, but I just throw my hands up (with Trump). I think that Joe, from what I’ve seen and read, is probably the finest man who has ever served in our government.”

“His book — the part about Beau — I had to put it down quite a few times,” Craven said, referencing Biden’s late son who died of brain cancer in 2015.

is what you get. Unlike some others who have to constantly figure out who they are and how to present themselves. Not for nothing (as we say in NJ), Biden, Bernie and Warren are the most authentic, imho. Maybe that's why they're leading. Just sayin'.

Joe seems to be sanguine about the "gotcha" attack force. He's been a campaigner for a long time and weathered two terms as VP supporting the best POTUS in my lifetime so he's seen it all. I am amazed he has remained a regular guy but am grateful that he did.

Someone who posted yet another "gaffe" OP said Joe supporters should stop commenting negatively on his threads and start their own on Joe. So I did.

You are the first person to comment and like my inaugural OP.

Thank you, Demsrule86!

Good description of Joe Biden in action, mingling with people, showing the care he's noted for and chatting with everyone. Important to note that people respond in kind. It's the kind of synergy we're going to need to put things back together again.

Nice!

In answering them, Joe doesn't deflect, Attack the Messenger, or cast himself as a victim of Trump's hypocrisy (Hello, colonists won the Revolutionary War because they "took over the airports"?!) though I wish he would!!

It is this sense Joe is "one of us" that makes him stand out the most: in effect, he is an ordinary Joe and an extraordinary Joe at the same time.
