NRA singles out Kamala Harris for 'ridiculous' gun reform plan

Des Moines, Iowa (CNN)Sen. Kamala Harris' campaign on Sunday responded to an attack from the National Rifle Association that called her proposed gun reform legislation "ridiculous," a move that comes as the nation is still reeling from two recent mass shootings.

Harris has proposed to sign executive orders that mandate near universal background checks and closing the so-called boyfriend loophole among others if Congress doesn't act on gun legislation within 100 days of her inauguration, should she become president. The California Democrat has also called for a renewal of the assault weapons ban.

From its verified Twitter account, the NRA shared a tweet with its almost 775,000 followers saying, "Big surprise: Kamala Harris is anti-gun. What she doesn't seem to realize is that most of her gun control policies either wouldn't work, or are already law, or basically make no sense."

The tweet included an NRA article published Friday titled, "Kamala Harris and Her Perplexing Anti-Gun Ideas," that accused Harris of trying to satisfy "anti-gun extremists" who hope to lead democrats "down the path of eviscerating the Second Amendment."

This election cycle the NRA will have a target on its own back because not simply the Democrats are fighting for gun control but the majority of the American electorate has had enough and is demanding change.

to stop minorities from defending themselves.

Plenty of liberals own guns and support sensible laws like stronger background checks and restrictions for domestic abusers.

on Sunday. Biden again today. All attacked by tweets or retweets from the NRA Twitter account.

The NRA ran an ad against Biden last month:

Anyway, kudos to Harris for getting their attention.

But whoever wrote that CNN article doesn't know much about the NRA if they think the NRA singled Harris out.
